What should I look for when buying a used Kia Soul?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: forward collision avoidance assist, automatic emergency braking, lane follow assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, junction-turning feature, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, and Highway Drive Assist on the 2023 GT-Line Limited
• Infotainment: 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on LX, EX, and EX+ trims; 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, wireless phone charging, and two USB centre console charge ports on higher trims

Which Kia Soul trim should I buy?

The 2023 Kia Soul offers these trims:

• LX: The entry trim gets the digital instrument cluster and 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, making it the value-focused starting point.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the driver-assist suite, including forward collision avoidance assist, automatic emergency braking, lane follow assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
• EX+: This trim keeps the 8-inch touchscreen and adds the same core convenience and safety foundation while moving you closer to the higher-feature versions.
• EX Premium: This trim adds the 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, wireless phone charging, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a heated steering wheel.
• GT-Line Limited: This top trim adds the most upscale equipment, including power-adjustable front seats, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a sunroof, leather seats, a Harman Kardon premium audio system, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, and Highway Drive Assist.

What Kia Soul do most buyers choose?

The Kia Soul years with the most listings are 2019, 2020, and 2021.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they offer a strong mix of availability, familiar equipment, and pricing that still fits many used-car budgets. More listings also give you a better chance of finding the trim, colour, and condition you want.

What is the Kia Soul's resale value?

Most Kia Soul model years are showing double-digit price declines, which is good news if you are shopping used and want more value for your money. The newer years are also moving down meaningfully, so recent-model shoppers may find better pricing than they did a year ago. The smallest changes are concentrated in the newest and most recent model years, which suggests those versions are easing down more slowly than the older ones.

The 2022, 2023, and 2014 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Kia Soul safe?

• 2023: 6/10
• 2020: 8/10

For 2023, most driver-assist features are included starting at the EX trim, including forward collision avoidance assist, automatic emergency braking, lane follow assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

For the safest used buy, the 2020 model posts the highest confirmed score of 8/10.
