What should I look for when buying a used Jeep Cherokee?

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel economy of 6.3 litres per 100 kilometres combined (6.1 city, 6.7 highway) — a massive improvement over the outgoing Cherokee.

Which Jeep Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2026 Jeep Cherokee offers these trims:

• Base: Standard all-wheel drive, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a hybrid powertrain make this the best-value trim for shoppers who want the core Cherokee experience.
• Laredo: Adds more equipment while keeping the same hybrid foundation and standard AWD, making it a sensible step up if you want more content without moving to the top of the range.
• Limited: Adds leatherette seats, wireless device charging, and the same standard tech suite, making it a strong choice if you want a more upscale cabin.
• Overland: Adds 20-inch wheels, traffic sign recognition, and the most premium cabin treatment in the lineup.

What Jeep Cherokee do most buyers choose?

The Jeep Cherokee years with the most listings are 2020, 2019, and 2018.

Those model years tend to attract the most shoppers because they sit in a sweet spot between price, availability, and modern equipment. They also give you a broad mix of trims and features, which makes it easier to find one that fits your budget and needs.

What is the Jeep Cherokee's resale value?

Most Cherokee model years are down by double digits year over year, which creates better opportunities for used buyers. The newer models show some of the steepest declines, while older examples are also moving lower at a similar pace. Overall, the pattern points to a market where shoppers can find meaningful value across much of the range.

The 2018, 2016, and 2015 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Jeep Cherokee safe?

• 2026: 7/10

For the safest used buy, the 2026 model posts the highest confirmed score of 7/10.
