What should I look for when buying a used Jeep Cherokee?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, and Active Driving Assist.
• Infotainment: a 12.3-inch touchscreen with a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel economy of 6.3 litres per 100 kilometres combined (6.1 city, 6.7 highway).

Which Jeep Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2026 Jeep Cherokee offers these trims:

• Base: The entry model starts the range with standard AWD, the 12.3-inch touchscreen, the 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and the hybrid powertrain; it suits you if you want the lowest-priced way into the new Cherokee.
• Laredo: This trim adds more equipment while keeping the same core hybrid setup and standard AWD, making it the best-value choice for many shoppers.
• Limited: This version adds leatherette seats and wireless device charging, along with the same standard infotainment and safety tech.
• Overland: The top trim adds 20-inch wheels, traffic sign recognition, built-in navigation, and the most upscale cabin presentation in the range.

What Jeep Cherokee do most buyers choose?

The Jeep Cherokee years with the most listings are 2020, 2019, and 2018.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they sit in a sweet spot between price, feature content, and availability. They also give you more choice on the used market, which can make it easier to find the right trim and condition.

What is the Jeep Cherokee's resale value?

Most Cherokee model years are showing double-digit price declines, which is good news if you’re shopping used. The newer years are falling sharply too, so recent-model buyers may find better value than they would have a year ago. The smallest drops are still meaningful, which suggests the Cherokee’s pricing is moving down across the board rather than holding firm.

The 2014, 2015, and 2018 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Jeep Cherokee safe?

• 2026: 7/10

Jeep offers standard driver assistance features including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, and Active Driving Assist.

For the safest used buy, the 2026 model posts the highest confirmed score of 7/10.

Should I buy a used Jeep Cherokee now or wait for the next model?

• Sweet-spot year: The 2020 model has the most listings at a current average price of $21,204 CAD. The Jeep Cherokee offers a roomy cabin and a versatile, adventure-ready character that has long been part of its appeal.

Consider waiting if:
