New & Used 2026 Volvo XC60 for Sale nearQualicum Beach, BC

Is the 2026 Volvo XC60 a good car?

The 2026 Volvo XC60 earns a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

It’s a polished five-passenger premium compact crossover that leans hard into Scandinavian design, upscale materials, and a strong safety-and-tech identity. For 2026, the refreshed cabin tech helps it feel more current, with a faster infotainment system, a higher-resolution 11.2-inch screen, and a redesigned interface.

The trade-offs are just as clear: the XC60’s acceleration can feel sluggish, braking can be less reassuring under hard use, and the driver-assistance tech is not especially impressive compared with rivals. It also isn’t the most fuel-efficient choice in its class.

Even so, the XC60 remains appealing if you want a comfortable, luxurious SUV with a strong brand reputation and a modern cabin. 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2026 Volvo XC60 reliable?

The 2026 Volvo XC60’s appeal is built around a familiar formula: a long-running model, a mild-hybrid powertrain, and a strong emphasis on safety and technology. Volvo also gives the XC60 a complimentary four-year connected services plan, which adds some ownership convenience.

From a dependability standpoint, the XC60’s powertrain is straightforward rather than exotic, with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, and an eight-speed automatic transmission. That simplicity can be reassuring for used buyers, even if the driving experience itself is not especially polished.

The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is that the XC60’s premium hardware and technology can be expensive to live with if something goes wrong.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Volvo XC60?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XC60 B5 comes in Core, Plus, Ultra, and Ultra Black Edition. The Core is the entry point, while the Ultra brings the most upscale cabin experience; the Ultra Black Edition is a styling variation. Base-trim shoppers should pay close attention to which comfort and luxury features are missing before deciding whether the lower price is worth it.

• Powertrain: The B5 uses a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 247 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, plus a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and all-wheel drive through an eight-speed automatic transmission. It is not especially quick, and the response can feel delayed, so you should test it in stop-and-go traffic and on highway merges.

• Safety package: Pilot Assist is the main driver-assistance suite, and it combines adaptive cruise control with lane centring assist. Standard safety equipment also includes forward collision warning that can detect large animals, pedestrians, and cyclists, oncoming collision mitigation braking, and intersection braking assist. The system’s behaviour is not as polished as some rivals, so you should check how confidently it tracks lanes and traffic.

• Infotainment: The 2026 XC60 gets an 11.2-inch touchscreen with Volvo Car UX, Google built-in, Google Maps, Google Assistant, Google Gemini, and Google Play. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, but Apple CarPlay requires a wired connection. You should also verify that the interface feels intuitive to you, since some controls can take time to learn.

• Fuel efficiency: The official Natural Resources Canada rating is 9.0 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, and the review’s real-world testing returned 9.5 L/100 km on one loop and 10.8 L/100 km on another. If fuel costs matter to you, this is worth weighing carefully against the XC60’s premium positioning.

Which 2026 Volvo XC60 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Volvo XC60 is offered in 4 trim levels: Core, Plus, Ultra, and Ultra Black Edition.

Here's the short version:

• Core: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the XC60’s design, safety focus, and standard all-wheel-drive hardware at the lowest price. Just make sure the equipment level still feels premium enough for you, because the XC60’s appeal is strongest when the cabin feels well appointed.

• Plus: This is the trim to focus on if you want a better balance of features and value. It should be the most sensible choice for many used buyers because it moves you further into the XC60’s comfort-and-luxury sweet spot without chasing the most expensive extras.

• Ultra: This is the best-value trim if you want the XC60 at its most convincing. It delivers the richest cabin experience, and the review specifically notes that skipping the 22-inch wheels, air suspension, and Bowers & Wilkins audio makes it more cost-effective while preserving the plush interior that defines the SUV.

• Ultra Black Edition: Choose this if you want the Ultra’s upscale equipment with a darker visual theme. It is more about appearance than a major equipment change, so it makes the most sense if styling matters to you.

The XC60’s safety package includes Pilot Assist, and you should compare how much you value that system against its less polished real-world behaviour.

Is the 2026 Volvo XC60 safe?

The 2026 Volvo XC60 did not earn a Top Safety Pick or a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The reason is an Acceptable rather than a Good rating in the side-impact crash test.

It earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and five-star ratings in each individual crash test except for rollover resistance.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward collision warning that can detect large animals, pedestrians, and cyclists, oncoming collision mitigation braking, intersection braking assist, and Pilot Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control with lane centring assist. Volvo also offers factory-installed integrated rear booster child seats as an option.

The main caveat is that the driver-assistance tech does not perform as confidently as you might expect from a Volvo, and the IIHS result is a reminder that the XC60 is not leading the class on crash-test recognition this year.

Should I buy a 2026 Volvo XC60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• The refreshed infotainment system, larger 11.2-inch screen, Google Gemini integration, and improved wireless charger matter to you.

The bottom line: If you want the most up-to-date XC60 cabin and value the refreshed tech, the 2026 is the one to target. If your priority is simply getting into an XC60 for less money, a nearby model year may be the better path for price-sensitive buyers.
