Is the 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid a good car?

Yes — 4.8/5 is a strong user rating for this model year, and the expert rating is 7.8/10. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

The 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid is a well-rounded compact crossover with a light refresh for 2026 and a new TrailSport trim level. It is aimed at buyers who want a practical, efficient small SUV with a polished driving feel, and the hybrid powertrain is a major part of that appeal.

The trade-offs are clear: the test-drive notes call its off-road ability underwhelming, and they also point to the absence of SiriusXM radio and limited tech features.

With 31.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid is described as a well-rounded, practical SUV with a polished driving feel and efficient hybrid operation. The hybrid system is presented as seamless in normal use, and the model’s overall reputation is helped by its comfortable ride and easy-to-use technology.

Honda says the 1.5-litre turbo-four used in the gas trims had oil-dilution issues in earlier CR-Vs, but that problem has since been remedied. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure any example has been maintained properly and checked carefully for condition and recall history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The TrailSport Hybrid adds orange badges, grey 18-inch wheels, all-terrain tyres, black door handles, and orange contrast stitching with embroidered headrests, but it is not a true off-road specialist. The EX-L Hybrid and Touring Hybrid also get front and rear parking sensors, which are not standard on lower trims.
• Powertrain: The hybrid trims use a 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle engine with two electric motors for 204 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque. The system replaces a traditional transmission, offers multiple regenerative braking settings and one-pedal driving, and is more fuel efficient than the gas-only version.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on every model and includes automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist, plus adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, traffic jam assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: All 2026 CR-Vs get a standard nine-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto. Touring Hybrid models add Google built-in, while hybrid trims also get a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid comes in at 6.4 L/100 km combined on most models, while the TrailSport Hybrid is rated at 6.7 L/100 km combined.

Which 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid trim should I buy?

The 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport Hybrid, TrailSport Hybrid, EX-L Hybrid, and Touring Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• Sport Hybrid: This is the entry point to the hybrid lineup and the best-value choice if you want the core hybrid powertrain, standard all-wheel drive, and the new nine-inch touchscreen without paying for extras you may not need.
• TrailSport Hybrid: Choose this if you want the TrailSport styling and the added traction of all-terrain tyres, but keep in mind that the content does not describe it as a true off-road model.
• EX-L Hybrid: This trim adds more comfort and convenience, including the 10.2-inch digital driver information display and front and rear parking sensors, making it a strong middle-ground pick.
• Touring Hybrid: This is the most feature-rich version, with Google built-in, the 12-speaker Bose audio system, and the same parking sensors, so it suits you if you want the most technology and premium equipment.

Honda Sensing is standard across the range, while front and rear parking sensors are limited to the EX-L Hybrid and Touring Hybrid.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 586 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.12% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $47,889 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid's resale value?

The current average of $47,889 CAD sits slightly below last year's $51,563 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a little more favourable for buyers, which can also mean future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If the model continues to hold its reputation as a practical, efficient compact SUV, that should help support demand over time. The TrailSport’s added appeal may help some trims hold interest better than others, but the broader resale picture still depends on condition, mileage, and equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid safe?

The 2026 Honda CR-V had not been evaluated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or crash-tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at the time of writing.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on every model and includes automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist, plus adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, traffic jam assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Front and rear parking sensors are standard only on the EX-L Hybrid and Touring Hybrid trims.

The main caveat is that the TrailSport does not add extra cameras, so there is no forward-view or side-view camera support for trail use. The rearview camera is standard, but the resolution is described as soft.

Should I buy a 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.12% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2026 adds a light refresh and a new TrailSport trim level, while keeping the hybrid powertrain and easy-to-use technology.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of this hybrid SUV with strong efficiency, a comfortable ride, and a broad trim walk, the 2026 is the better starting point. If you are mainly focused on price, a nearby model year may offer a lower entry point, but you should expect to give up some of the 2026 updates.
