The main trade-offs are the touchy brakes at low speeds and the small moonroof. For shoppers who value everyday comfort, efficiency, and a premium-leaning cabin over flashier features, it makes a strong case.

Listings with good or great deal status account for 27.8% of the market, which is a healthy sign for shoppers.

The expert assessment also supports that impression by describing the CR-V Hybrid as a compelling option for buyers who want creature comforts and capability with their fuel efficiency. What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Hybrid Touring is the top-of-the-line model, so you should expect a more premium cabin with high-quality materials, contrast stitching, 19-inch wheels, and a more upscale overall feel. It also includes the standard safety equipment that helps define this trim’s value.
• Powertrain: The hybrid pairs a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with two electric motors for 204 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque. It uses a CVT, offers Snow, Sport, Normal, Econ, and B drive modes, and is rated at 6.0 L/100 km in city driving, 6.9 on the highway, and 6.4 combined.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard, along with front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, traffic jam assist, traffic sign recognition, low-speed braking control, blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic monitor, rear-seat reminder, and rear seatbelt reminder. Some trims marked with a B shipped without blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic monitor due to parts shortages.
• Infotainment: The Hybrid Touring gets a 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Wi-Fi capability, a wireless charging pad, and a 12-speaker Bose Premium audio system. It also adds Honda’s smart navigation system.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is estimated to consume 6.0 L/100 km in city driving, 6.9 on the highway, and 6.4 combined. That makes it notably more efficient than the turbo non-hybrid AWD models.

Which 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid trim should I buy?

The 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid is offered in 1 trim level: Hybrid Touring.

Here's the short version:

The Hybrid Touring is the one to buy because it is the only trim and comes fully loaded with the strongest mix of comfort, technology, and safety equipment. You get the 9-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, Bose audio, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and the full Honda Sensing suite, so there is no lower trim to compromise on. If you want the hybrid CR-V, this is the version that best matches the model’s upscale positioning.

The safety package is standard across the trim, though some vehicles marked with a B may be missing blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic monitor because of parts shortages.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough pricing movement to create opportunities.

• Deal availability: 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 356 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.47% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $37,488 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid's resale value?

The current average of $37,488 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,407 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about expectations. If you buy at the right price now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to the previous year’s average.

The model’s strong owner satisfaction should help support demand when it comes time to sell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

A caveat to keep in mind is that trims marked with a B shipped without blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic monitor because of ongoing parts shortages.

Should I buy a 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.47% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• This year marks the CR-V Hybrid’s first Canadian hybrid offering, with a single well-equipped Touring trim and standard advanced safety tech.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $39,647 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $37,488 CAD average.
• A new EX-L Hybrid trim brings a lower entry point for the hybrid powertrain.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of value, safety, and equipment, the 2023 is the smarter buy. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model-year option with a lower-priced hybrid trim, the 2024 is worth a look.
