Used 2025 Subaru Outback for Sale nearThunder Bay, ON

How much does the 2025 Subaru Outback cost?

Prices have softened 12.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 350 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Subaru Outback a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.5/5 user-rated model with an expert rating of 7.5/10. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

The 2025 Subaru Outback stands out because it still presents itself as a rugged wagon rather than a conventional SUV, and that distinctive packaging gives you something practical without blending into the usual crossover crowd. It also brings great ride quality, standard all-wheel drive, and strong safety ratings, which make it a sensible everyday choice if you value comfort and confidence.

The trade-offs are clear: the base engine is underwhelming, and the touchscreen response is sluggish. If you want the Outback’s wagon-like design and all-weather capability, those compromises may be acceptable; if you care most about polished tech, you may notice the gaps.

Only 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is somewhat selective rather than broadly discounted.

Is the 2025 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Outback’s appeal is built around practicality, value, great ride quality, standard all-wheel drive, and strong safety ratings, all of which point to a vehicle designed for steady everyday use. Its standard Boxer engine and CVT are paired with regular unleaded fuel, and the overall package is aimed at dependable all-weather driving rather than high-strung performance.

The performance notes also suggest a durable, easygoing character: the turbocharged version is described as smooth and the CVT as generally unobtrusive, even if response can be slow at times. If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is that the base engine and infotainment system may feel dated sooner than the rest of the vehicle.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Subaru Outback?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Convenience and Touring trims use cloth upholstery and 17-inch wheels, while Onyx and Wilderness add StarTex synthetic leather and heated outboard rear seats. All trims but Convenience get a power moonroof and the 11.6-inch infotainment system, while Limited and Premier add DriverFocus, built-in navigation, and leather upholstery.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-litre four-cylinder makes 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque, while XT and Wilderness models use a turbocharged 2.4-litre engine with 260 hp and 277 lb-ft. Both versions run on regular unleaded gas, and the CVT routes power through standard all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist technology is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with lane centring, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering. Touring and higher trims also add blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: Most trims get a portrait-oriented 11.6-inch touchscreen, while the base model uses twin 7-inch displays. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, wireless unless you have the base model’s twin 7-inch displays.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 2.5-litre model uses 9.2 L/100 km in the city, 7.3 on the highway, and 8.3 combined. Turbocharged XT models rise to 10.6 L/100 km city, 8.1 highway, and 9.5 combined, while the Wilderness model is rated at 11.0 city, 9.0 highway, and 10.1 combined.

Which 2025 Subaru Outback trim should I buy?

The 2025 Subaru Outback is offered in 7 trim levels: Convenience, Touring, Onyx, Limited, Wilderness, Limited XT, and Premier XT.

Here's the short version:

• Convenience: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Outback’s core strengths at the lowest price. You still get the wagon shape, standard all-wheel drive, heated front seats, and the safety tech that comes with EyeSight, but you miss out on the larger touchscreen and several comfort upgrades.
• Touring: This trim adds a more complete everyday experience while staying on the base engine. It keeps the practical formula intact and is a sensible step up if you want a better-equipped Outback without moving into the turbo models.
• Onyx: This is the best-value choice if you want a more distinctive look and easier-to-clean StarTex upholstery. It also brings heated outboard rear seats and the larger infotainment setup, making it a strong middle ground.
• Limited: This trim is the right pick if you want a more premium-feeling cabin. DriverFocus, built-in navigation, and leather upholstery make it feel more upscale without jumping all the way to the top end.
• Wilderness: This is the one to choose if your priorities lean toward rougher terrain and adventure use. It gets the turbocharged engine, extra ground clearance, a front skid plate, and additional X-Mode settings.
• Limited XT: This is the best-value turbo trim if you want stronger performance and a more upscale interior together. It combines the upgraded engine with the Limited’s comfort and tech features.
• Premier XT: This is the most luxurious version, with Nappa leather upholstery and ventilated front seats. It suits you best if you want the most comfort-focused Outback and are willing to pay for it.

Touring and higher trim levels also add blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Subaru Outback?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 350 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.10% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $39,687 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $39,716 CAD sits slightly below last year's $45,184 CAD.

That price decline suggests future sellers may face a softer market than owners saw a year ago. If you buy now, you’re entering at a lower average price point, which can help reduce the gap between purchase price and eventual resale value. The current range also shows that well-priced examples still attract attention, especially when they sit near the lower end of the market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Subaru Outback safe?

The 2025 Subaru Outback earns a Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist technology is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with lane centring, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering. Touring and higher trims also add blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.

One caveat is that the lane-centring behaviour can feel a little busy, with more side-to-side movement than ideal. Even so, the overall safety package is a major strength, and the available driver-monitoring system adds another layer of oversight.

Should I buy a 2025 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It remains one of the last station wagons on the market, with standard all-wheel drive and strong safety ratings.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $34,364 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $39,716 CAD average.
• It keeps the raised wagon formula and excellent visibility.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It brings an all-new SUV-like redesign with more feature enhancements and stronger overall balance.

The bottom line: If you want the current Outback’s distinctive wagon shape, the 2025 is the one to target. If price matters most, the 2024 is the smarter value play, while the 2026 is the better choice if you want the redesigned direction and can wait.
