Is the 2025 GMC Terrain a good car?

The 2025 GMC Terrain stands out as a redesigned compact SUV that brings a more modern cabin and updated technology to the nameplate. It arrives with a 15-inch touchscreen running GMC’s latest infotainment software with Google Built-in, plus a second 11-inch digital driver information centre directly in front of the driver. Heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and LED headlamps are standard, and GMC also includes a broad set of driver-assistance features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, enhanced automatic emergency braking and blind zone steering assist.

It also offers a clearer split between everyday comfort and more specialised equipment. Front-wheel drive models use a continuously variable transmission, while all-wheel drive versions switch to an eight-speed automatic and gain extra torque, higher towing capacity and additional drive modes. Buyers who want more convenience can add features such as leatherette seats, dual-zone climate control, a power liftgate and wireless charging through the Elevation Premium package, while the Black Edition package adds gloss black exterior accents and badges.

There are, however, some limitations to keep in mind. The Terrain does not offer a hybrid powertrain, and its cargo space is on the small side for the compact crossover segment, with 844 litres behind the rear seats and up to 1,798 litres with them folded. Even so, it remains appealing for shoppers who want a comfortable, well-equipped small SUV with a roomy cabin for four adults, strong standard safety content and a more upscale feel than many mainstream rivals.

34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a newer, technology-heavy SUV can be more expensive to keep up if you run into infotainment or electronic feature issues outside warranty.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 GMC Terrain?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile opportunities.

• Deal availability: 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 776 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.49% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $35,511 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 GMC Terrain's resale value?

The current average of $35,514 CAD sits slightly below last year's $38,809 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Terrain has softened enough to help you buy more selectively today. If you plan to sell later, the current market points to a model that may not hold its peak value as firmly as it did a year ago. For a future seller, that means condition, mileage and equipment will matter even more when it comes time to list.

Should I buy a 2025 GMC Terrain or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.49% compared with last year.

The bottom line: If you want the newer cabin, updated technology and a more modern feel, the 2025 is the stronger pick. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby year may be the better path, especially if you can find a well-kept example with the equipment you want at a lower asking price.
