Is the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD a good car?

The 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD stands out as a heavy-duty pickup that is built first and foremost for serious work. It has aggressive styling with a huge bluff front end, so there is no mistaking it on the road, and its capability matches the look. For buyers who need maximum hauling strength, that kind of range is the Silverado 3500HD’s defining appeal.

It also brings a strong mix of powertrain choice and towing-focused hardware. The standard 6.6-litre gas V8 makes 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, while the optional Duramax turbodiesel V8 produces 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. Both engines use an Allison ten-speed automatic transmission, and the diesel can be paired with integrated Power Take-Off for running large accessories.

Inside and around the cab, the truck is better equipped than many buyers might expect from something this large. It offers a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and SiriusXM satellite radio, plus an advanced trailering app with detailed camera views. The main trade-offs are familiar for this class: the cabins can feel basic compared with some rivals, and the truck is expensive, especially in diesel form.

With 36.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD reliable?

The 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD is presented as a purpose-built heavy-duty pickup that is meant to work hard rather than pretend to be a car. It backs up that role with serious capability, broad configuration choices, and towing-focused hardware that should suit buyers who need a truck for demanding jobs.

It also offers a straightforward mechanical setup with a 6.6-litre gas V8 or an optional Duramax turbodiesel V8, both paired with an Allison ten-speed automatic transmission. That kind of conventional, work-oriented layout should appeal if you want a truck designed around hauling and towing rather than complexity for its own sake.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a truck built for heavy-duty work may have been used hard, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some confidence if you know what you want and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 155 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.21% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $79,764 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD's resale value?

The current average of $79,764 CAD sits slightly below last year's $97,523 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more selectively today. If you plan to sell later, the current softness means your resale outcome will depend heavily on mileage, condition, and how well the truck has been maintained. A well-kept example should still hold appeal because this model is aimed at buyers who need serious towing and hauling capability.

Should I buy a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.21% compared with last year.

The bottom line: If you want a heavy-duty truck with strong capability, broad configuration choices, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room, the 2025 is the sensible pick. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby model years and focus on the best-equipped, best-priced listings rather than paying extra for a newer badge.
