Used 2024 Toyota Tacoma for Sale nearNanaimo, BC

How much does the 2024 Toyota Tacoma cost?

Prices have softened 8.29% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 465 listings available, which suggests healthy inventory for used shoppers.

Is the 2024 Toyota Tacoma a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Toyota Tacoma earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating.

The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

The 2024 Tacoma is a ground-up redesign that gives you a more modern starting point while keeping the truck’s familiar appeal intact. It still leans into durability and capability, and Toyota’s standard advanced driver-assistance tech helps it feel well equipped from the outset.

The trade-offs are worth weighing: the cabin is noisy, the manual-adjust seats can be troublesome, and the interior remains more functional than plush even in the top trim. For buyers who want a midsize truck with strong capability and a proven brand reputation, that balance may work well.

37.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which points to a decent amount of market opportunity.

Is the 2024 Toyota Tacoma reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Toyota’s reputation for reliability remains a major draw, and the Tacoma’s redesign keeps that durability-first identity intact. The expert review also points to a new platform, standard 4WD in Canada, and a more modern set of driver-assistance features, all of which support confidence in day-to-day use.

The powertrain and chassis updates suggest a truck that should age well if it’s maintained properly. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the Tacoma’s core toughness and more about choosing a well-kept example with the equipment and trim level you actually want.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Tacoma?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tacoma’s packages differ meaningfully, with the TRD Off Road packages getting 17-inch off-road alloys and the Premium packages adding heated and ventilated SofTex-trimmed seats plus a 14-inch centre display. The cabin stays function-first even in higher trims, so make sure the equipment level matches what you expect.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder produces 278 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque, and 4WD is standard in Canada. The eight-speed automatic is described as smooth, while the six-speed manual has a high bite point that can be awkward in tight manoeuvres.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, including Lane Tracing Assist, lane-departure alert with steering assist, oncoming vehicle collision avoidance assist, road-sign assist, an emergency stop system, adaptive cruise control with four following-distance settings, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Toyota notes that these features bring the Tacoma into the modern age of Level 2 autonomous driving aids.
• Infotainment: The standard screen is 8 inches, while the Premium packages get a 14-inch centre display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and Toyota’s Audio Multimedia system is described as responsive and legible.
• Fuel efficiency: The least-efficient version with the manual transmission is expected to get 11.9 L/100 km combined, while the automatic is estimated at as low as 11.2 L/100 km combined.

Which 2024 Toyota Tacoma trim should I buy?

The 2024 Toyota Tacoma is offered in 2 trim levels: SR and TRD Off Road.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the trim to consider if you want the Tacoma’s core redesign, standard 4WD, standard Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, and the new 8-inch touchscreen without paying for extra equipment you may not need. It gives you the essentials in a truck that already benefits from the new platform and updated powertrain.
• TRD Off Road: This is the better pick if you want the Tacoma’s off-road-focused hardware and a more specialised setup. It adds 17-inch off-road alloys and the package-specific tuning that goes with the TRD Off Road character, making it the more compelling choice for buyers who plan to use the truck beyond commuting.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, so even the entry trim gets the core safety package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Tacoma?

It’s a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to make timing matter.

• Deal availability: 37.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 465 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.29% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $52,958 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

The current average of $52,958 CAD sits slightly below last year's $57,746 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour if you’re buying now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices continue to normalise. A truck that has already moved down from its prior-year average can be harder to flip quickly unless it’s well equipped and well maintained.

The Tacoma’s strong reputation and broad buyer appeal should still help support demand over time. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Toyota Tacoma safe?

The Tacoma still comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0), which now includes Lane Tracing Assist, lane-departure alert with steering assist, oncoming vehicle collision avoidance assist, road-sign assist, and an emergency stop system. A blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota’s safety package is a clear strength here, especially because these features are standard rather than reserved for higher trims. The review also notes that the new electric power steering helps enable additional driver-assistance features, which is part of what moves the Tacoma into a more modern safety profile.

Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 37.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.29% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 brings a ground-up redesign, a new platform, and standard advanced driver-assistance tech.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $48,032 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $52,958 CAD average.
• It stands out for its hard-earned reliability and distinctive styling.

The bottom line: If you want the newer truck with the more modern foundation, the 2024 is the better long-term pick. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2023 remains the value play.
