Is the 2024 Genesis G70 a good car?

The 2024 Genesis G70 earns an 8.67/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

It pairs sharp styling with a brand-new, more powerful base engine and excellent handling, so it feels more distinctive than merely well equipped. It also brings great build quality and impressive standard safety features, which help it work well as an everyday luxury sedan.

The trade-offs are that it is a bit snug, especially in the trunk, and it has limited interior storage. It also does not offer wireless smartphone mirroring, which may matter if convenience tech is high on your list.

With 16.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room for value-focused shoppers.

Is the 2024 Genesis G70 reliable?

The 2024 Genesis G70 is presented as a well-built luxury sedan with strong standard safety tech and a solid warranty package, which supports confidence for everyday use. Its standard all-wheel drive, robust powertrain choices, and five years of scheduled maintenance also point to a car designed to be straightforward to live with.

The performance side looks reassuring too: the base 2.5-litre turbo engine is described as a strong, dynamic setup with excellent handling, while the V6 adds more capability if you want extra punch. The expert commentary also highlights the car’s good build quality and its ability to take abuse when driven hard.

Genesis includes five years of scheduled maintenance and a 5-year, 100,000-kilometre comprehensive warranty, which helps reduce early ownership worry. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical drama and more about living with the G70’s smaller cabin and cargo space over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Genesis G70?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin is well finished across the range, but the base setup still leaves you with a smaller interior and limited storage, so check whether the equipment level matches your needs.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque, or a 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 with 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque. Both use an eight-speed automatic, and AWD is standard in Canada.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rain-sensing wipers, parking distance warning, and Highway Driving Assist. A blind view monitor is available, and a 360-degree camera is available on the Sport trim.
• Infotainment: Every G70 gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus over-the-air updates. Wireless smartphone mirroring is not included.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.5-litre engine is rated at 10.2 L/100 km combined, while the 3.3-litre engine returns 11.9 L/100 km combined.

Which 2024 Genesis G70 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Genesis G70 is offered in 2 trim levels: Advanced and Sport.

Here's the short version:

• Advanced: This is the better-value choice if you want the new 2.5-litre engine, strong standard safety tech, and the core G70 experience without paying for the extra performance hardware.
• Sport: Choose this if you want the 3.3-litre V6, the more serious performance setup, and the available 360-degree camera.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, but some advanced features are reserved for higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Genesis G70?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on well-priced examples.

• Deal availability: 16.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 60 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 22.50% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $40,715 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Genesis G70's resale value?

The current average of $41,102 CAD sits slightly below last year's $53,036 CAD.

That drop suggests the G70 has become more approachable for used buyers, which can help demand from shoppers who want luxury-car features without paying new-car money. For a future seller, the softer pricing means you may not recover as much as earlier owners did, especially if the market stays value-conscious. If you buy well now, though, you may be starting from a more realistic entry price than last year’s shoppers faced.

Is the 2024 Genesis G70 safe?

The 2024 Genesis G70 has not received an overall, frontal, side impact or rollover crash rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). However, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the G70 the top score of “Good” in crashworthiness, crash avoidance and mitigation.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rain-sensing wipers, parking distance warning, and Highway Driving Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control and lane following assist. A blind view monitor is available, and a 360-degree camera is available on the Sport trim.

One caveat to keep in mind is the child-restraint result: the G70 received a “Marginal” score because the lower LATCH anchors are deep in the rear seats and harder to access.

Should I buy a 2024 Genesis G70 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 16.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 22.50% compared with last year.
• The new base engine and strong handling are the main reasons to shop this year.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $37,473 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $41,102 CAD average.
• It is a stylish, well-rounded carryover with standard AWD and a broad trim range.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version with the stronger base engine and the best mix of value and performance, the 2024 is the better target. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2023 remains a smart alternative because it delivers the core G70 formula at a lower average price.
