Is the 2024 Genesis G70 reliable?

The 2024 Genesis G70 is presented as a well-built sport-luxury sedan with strong standard safety technology and a solid warranty package.

Its expert assessment also points to excellent handling, good build quality, and a powertrain lineup that feels robust for daily use. The standard maintenance coverage and included map updates add peace of mind for ownership.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about living with its tighter cargo space and convenience compromises over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Genesis G70?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin is attractive and well finished, but the base setup does not include wireless smartphone mirroring, and the car’s snug packaging is most noticeable in the trunk and storage areas.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and a 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 with 365 horsepower. Both use an eight-speed automatic, and AWD is standard in Canada.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rain-sensing wipers, parking distance warning, and Highway Driving Assist. A blind view monitor is available, and a 360-degree camera is available on the Sport trim.
• Infotainment: Every G70 gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but they do not work wirelessly. Over-the-air updates are included.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.5-litre engine is rated at 10.2 L/100 km combined, while the 3.3-litre engine is rated at 11.9 L/100 km combined.

Which 2024 Genesis G70 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Genesis G70 is offered in 2 trim levels: Advanced and Sport.

Here's the short version:

• Advanced: This is the best-value choice if you want the new 2.5-litre engine, strong standard safety tech, and the core G70 experience without stretching to the pricier V6.
• Sport: Choose this if you want the 3.3-litre V6, the more enthusiast-focused hardware, and the extra equipment that suits harder driving.

The safety package is strong across the range, with the available blind view monitor and 360-degree camera adding useful visibility support on higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Genesis G70?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 64 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.58% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $40,518 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Genesis G70's resale value?

The current average of $40,518 CAD sits slightly below last year's $51,665 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means you should expect resale values to depend heavily on condition, trim, and equipment rather than assuming strong price retention. If you buy well now, you may be better positioned to absorb normal depreciation later.

Is the 2024 Genesis G70 safe?

The 2024 Genesis G70 has not received an overall, frontal, side impact or rollover crash rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), while the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave it the top score of “Good” in crashworthiness, crash avoidance and mitigation.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rain-sensing wipers, parking distance warning, and Highway Driving Assist. A blind view monitor is available, and a 360-degree camera is available on the Sport trim.

One caveat is the IIHS child-restraint result, where the G70 received a “Marginal” score because the lower LATCH anchors are deep in the rear seats and harder to access.

Should I buy a 2024 Genesis G70 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.58% compared with last year.
• The new, more powerful base engine and strong handling make this year especially compelling.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $36,516 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $40,518 CAD average.
• It offers broad powertrain choice and standard AWD.

The bottom line: Choose the 2024 if you want the stronger base engine, updated appeal, and a better value balance in today’s market. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2023 is still a smart alternative because it delivers much of the same core G70 character for less.
