Is the 2024 Genesis G70 a good car?

The 2024 Genesis G70 earns an 8.67/10 expert rating, and it stands out as a compact sport-luxury sedan with strong powertrain choices and excellent handling.

The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

It also brings great build quality, impressive standard safety features, and a fresh engine option for this model year, so it feels more distinctive than merely well equipped. The trade-offs are a snug cabin and limited interior storage, plus no wireless smartphone mirroring. For you, that means it makes the most sense if you want a driver-focused luxury sedan and can live with a tighter package. There are 14.0% good or great deals in the market, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Genesis G70 reliable?

The 2024 Genesis G70 is presented as a well-built luxury sedan with strong standard safety equipment and a solid warranty, which supports confidence for everyday use.

Its standard powertrains are described as robust, and the car’s chassis and braking hardware suggest it is engineered to handle regular commuting as well as more spirited driving. Genesis also includes five years of scheduled maintenance and map updates, which helps reduce early ownership hassle.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a smaller luxury sedan can be more sensitive to wear in high-use areas, especially if previous owners drove it hard or skipped maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Genesis G70?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin is attractive and well finished, but you should pay attention to equipment differences because the base setup does not include every convenience feature you may want.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque, or a 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 with 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque. Both use an eight-speed automatic, and AWD is standard in Canada.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rain-sensing wipers, parking distance warning, and Highway Driving Assist. The available blind view monitor and 360-degree camera add extra confidence, with the camera available on the Sport trim.
• Infotainment: You get a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus over-the-air updates. Wireless smartphone mirroring is not included.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.5-litre engine is rated at 10.2 L/100 km combined, while the 3.3-litre engine is rated at 11.9 L/100 km combined.

Which 2024 Genesis G70 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Genesis G70 is offered in 2 trim levels: Advanced and Sport.

Here's the short version:

• Advanced: This is the best-value choice if you want the new 2.5-litre engine, strong standard safety tech, and the G70’s core luxury-sport character without paying for the top engine.
• Sport: Choose this if you want the 3.3-litre V6 and the more enthusiast-focused setup, especially if you care about the extra performance hardware and available 360-degree camera.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, but the available blind view monitor and 360-degree camera help the Sport stand out.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Genesis G70?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 14.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 57 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 22.59% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $40,705 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Genesis G70's resale value?

The current average of $41,102 CAD sits slightly below last year's $53,094 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has become more favourable for you as a buyer, but it also means a future seller may face softer pricing than owners saw a year ago. If you buy now, you may benefit from the lower entry point, though resale recovery will depend on how well the car is maintained and equipped. For a seller, the current trend points to a more competitive used market than last year.

Is the 2024 Genesis G70 safe?

The 2024 Genesis G70 earns Good ratings from IIHS in crashworthiness, crash avoidance and mitigation.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The G70 makes most advanced driver aids standard, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rain-sensing wipers, and parking distance warning. Highway Driving Assist is also standard, combining adaptive cruise control and lane following assist. You can also get a blind view monitor, and the Sport trim offers a 360-degree camera.

One caveat is the IIHS child restraint result, where the G70 received a Marginal score because the lower LATCH anchors are difficult to access.

Should I buy a 2024 Genesis G70 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 14.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 22.59% compared with last year.
• The new 2.5-litre engine and strong standard safety tech make this year especially compelling.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $37,064 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $41,102 CAD average.
• It offers a complete, stylish small luxury sedan with standard AWD and multiple powertrain choices.

The bottom line: Choose the 2024 if you want the newer engine and the strongest overall value story. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2023 is the better price-sensitive path and still gives you the G70’s core appeal.
