Is the 2024 Genesis G70 reliable?

The 2024 Genesis G70 combines a solid ownership package with strong build quality, impressive safety tech, and a 5-year, 100,000-kilometre comprehensive warranty that also includes the powertrain.

Its performance side is backed by an excellent chassis, standard all-wheel drive in Canada, and a new, more powerful base engine for this model year. The cost side is also reassuring, since Genesis includes five years of scheduled maintenance and map updates, along with at-home concierge support for test drives and service appointments.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical weakness and more about living with the G70’s tighter packaging and feature compromises over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Genesis G70?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin is well finished across the range, but you should pay attention to equipment differences such as the available Lexicon premium audio system, the available head-up display, and the available blind view monitor. The Sport trim also gets a 360-degree camera.
• Powertrain: The base engine is a 2.5-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque, while the upgrade is a 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 with 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque. Both use an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, and all-wheel drive is standard in Canada.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rain-sensing wipers, parking distance warning, and Highway Driving Assist. The available blind view monitor and the Sport trim’s 360-degree camera add extra visibility.
• Infotainment: Every G70 gets a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus over-the-air updates. Wireless smartphone mirroring is not included.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.5-litre engine is rated at 10.2 litres per 100 kilometres combined, while the 3.3-litre engine returns 11.9 L/100 km combined.

Which 2024 Genesis G70 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Genesis G70 is offered in 2 trim levels: Advanced and Sport.

Here's the short version:

• Advanced: This is the best-value choice if you want the new 2.5-litre engine, strong standard safety equipment, and the G70’s core luxury-sport character without stretching to the pricier V6.
• Sport: Choose this if you want the 3.3-litre V6, the extra performance hardware, and the most enthusiast-focused version of the G70.

The Sport trim also gets the available 360-degree camera, while the available blind view monitor can be a useful safety upgrade if you want extra visibility.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Genesis G70?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on well-priced examples.

• Deal availability: 20.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 55 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 23.05% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $40,705 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Genesis G70's resale value?

The current average of $40,987 CAD sits slightly below last year's $53,263 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy now, the softer pricing could help you enter at a lower cost basis than owners had a year ago. For resale, the G70’s strong equipment and premium appeal should help, but the current trend shows you should not expect a quick rebound.

Is the 2024 Genesis G70 safe?

The 2024 Genesis G70 has not received an overall, frontal, side impact or rollover crash rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), but the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave it the top score of “Good” in crashworthiness, crash avoidance and mitigation.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rain-sensing wipers, parking distance warning, and Highway Driving Assist. The available blind view monitor adds camera views of the blind spots, and a 360-degree camera is available on the Sport trim.

One caveat is the IIHS child-restraint result: it received a “Marginal” score because the lower LATCH anchors are deep in the rear seats and difficult to access.

Should I buy a 2024 Genesis G70 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 20.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 23.05% compared with last year.
• A new, more powerful base engine and strong safety tech make this year especially compelling.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $37,411 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $40,987 CAD average.
• It offers fresh styling, standard AWD in Canada, and a strong mix of performance and usability.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger value proposition and the updated base engine, the 2024 is the better pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2023 remains a smart alternative with many of the same core strengths.
