Used 2024 GMC Canyon for Sale nearWaterloo, ON

How much does the 2024 GMC Canyon cost?

Prices have softened 6.36% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 198 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 GMC Canyon a good car?

It’s a strong choice if you want a midsize pickup that feels more premium and more capable than many rivals, though the price and packaging trade-offs matter. The user rating is 3/5, and the expert rating is 7.2/10.

The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

The Canyon’s appeal comes from its tall, wide stance, generous standard equipment, and off-road ambition, especially in higher trims. Pros: Excellent materials quality, outstanding tech, and a truck that can be immensely capable off-road with the AEV package. Cons: Shorter bed length than competitors and a cramped back seat.

If you want a midsize truck that feels upscale and is aimed at buyers who want to go farther and work harder, the Canyon fits that brief well. The market also shows 33.3% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 GMC Canyon reliable?

The 2024 Canyon is built around a proven turbocharged four-cylinder setup, and the expert review describes the powertrain as robust enough for towing, hauling, and off-road driving. It also notes that the truck rides and drives well for a pickup, with well-damped road noise and brakes that do an admirable job.

The review also points to strong standard equipment and a premium-feeling cabin, which can help the truck feel well sorted over time. GMC’s first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Canyon’s higher running costs and expensive options can make repairs and upkeep feel less forgiving than on a more value-focused rival.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 GMC Canyon?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Elevation comes closest to a work-truck feel, while the AT4 aims for more off-road capability, the Denali leans luxury, and the AT4X doubles down on dirt-focused intentions. The base trim still gets cloth seats, keyless entry, an 11-inch digital gauge cluster, and an 11.3-inch touchscreen, but some convenience features are optional.
• Powertrain: Every trim gets the most powerful version of the 2.7-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, with 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic, and every Canadian trim comes standard with four-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, and a rear-seat reminder system. Rear park assist, rear cross-traffic braking, and blind-zone steering assist can require an extra package on lower trims.
• Infotainment: The standard 11.3-inch touchscreen includes Google Built-in, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included. The Denali and AT4X also get a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review says fuel economy is a weak point, with ratings of 13.2 L/100 km in the city, 10.9 L/100 km on the highway, and 12.2 L/100 km combined. The AT4X AEV tester is rated at 14.9 L/100 km combined.

Which 2024 GMC Canyon trim should I buy?

The 2024 GMC Canyon is offered in 4 trim levels: Elevation, AT4, Denali, and AT4X.

Here's the short version:

• Elevation: This is the value-oriented starting point, and it still brings a strong standard feature set, including cloth seats, keyless entry, an 11-inch digital gauge cluster, and an 11.3-inch touchscreen. It makes the most sense if you want the Canyon’s core capability and tech without paying for the higher-trim extras.
• AT4: This is the better fit if you want a more off-road-focused setup without jumping all the way to the top end. It adds a more adventurous character and is a sensible middle ground for buyers who want capability first.
• Denali: Choose this if you want the most upscale cabin feel and a more luxury-leaning experience. It suits you best if comfort and presentation matter as much as truck capability.
• AT4X: This is the most extreme choice, especially with the AEV package, which adds 35-inch all-terrain tyres, beadlock-capable wheels, skid plates, bumpers, and extra lift. It’s the right pick if off-road hardware is your priority and you’re willing to pay for it.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that some advanced driver-assistance features can cost extra on lower trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 GMC Canyon?

This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you should shop carefully and compare listings rather than rushing.

• Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 198 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.36% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $51,274 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $51,274 CAD sits slightly below last year's $54,756 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Canyon is currently more buyer-friendly than it was a year ago. If you plan to sell later, you should expect the market to reward well-equipped, well-kept examples more than basic trucks with fewer features.

Because the Canyon is positioned as a more premium midsize pickup, trim and condition will matter a lot when it comes time to resell. Higher-spec versions may hold appeal with shoppers who want the upscale cabin and stronger equipment list.

Is the 2024 GMC Canyon safe?

The 2024 GMC Canyon earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and three-star ratings in rollover, and five-star ratings in side-impact and all other NHTSA tests.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, and a rear-seat reminder system. Rear park assist, rear cross-traffic braking, and blind-zone steering assist are available only with an extra package on lower trims.

That means the Canyon gives you a solid baseline of active safety tech, but you may need to move up or pay extra if you want a fuller driver-assistance suite.

Should I buy a 2024 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.36% compared with last year.
• The new AEV package adds serious off-road hardware and makes the AT4X even more capable.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $47,920 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $51,274 CAD average.
• It is a redesigned next-generation midsize truck with a more upscale feel and strong technology.

The bottom line: Choose the 2024 if you want the latest off-road hardware and are shopping for a well-equipped Canyon in a softer market. If your priority is saving money, the 2023 is the better path because it delivers much of the same core appeal for less.
