Used 2024 GMC Canyon for Sale near Thornhill, ON

How much does the 2024 GMC Canyon cost?

Prices have softened 6.44% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 183 listings available, which gives you a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 GMC Canyon a good car?

It’s a strong choice if you want a midsize pickup that feels more upscale and more capable than many rivals, though the price and packaging trade-offs matter. The user rating is 3/5, and the expert rating is 7.2/10.

The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

The Canyon’s taller, wider stance and generous standard equipment help it stand out, while the high-output turbocharged four-cylinder gives you plenty of towing, hauling, and off-road capability. The main compromises are the shorter bed, the cramped back seat, and the fact that it’s expensive for the class.

There are 31.1% of listings priced as good or great deals, which suggests you can still find some attractive offers if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 GMC Canyon reliable?

The Canyon’s core hardware and standard equipment point to a truck built to handle demanding use, and its powertrain is described as robust enough for the larger Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500. It also delivers strong road manners for a pickup, with well-damped noise and composed behaviour over uneven pavement.

Its fuel economy is a weak point, and the truck’s premium positioning means you’re paying more up front and likely more over time. For used buyers, that makes long-term ownership risk more about operating costs and option-package complexity than basic capability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 GMC Canyon?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Elevation is the closest to a work-truck setup, while the AT4 focuses on off-road capability, the Denali leans luxury, and the AT4X is the most dirt-focused. The base trim still gets cloth seats, keyless entry, an 11-inch digital gauge cluster, and an 11.3-inch touchscreen, but dual-zone climate control and a tilting and telescoping steering wheel are available rather than standard.
• Powertrain: Every trim gets the most powerful version of the turbocharged 2.7-litre four-cylinder engine, with 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. In Canada, every trim comes standard with 4WD; the Elevation uses a single-speed transfer case, while other trims get a two-speed transfer case.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, and a rear-seat reminder system. Rear park assist, rear cross-traffic braking, and blind-zone steering assist are bundled into an available package on lower trims.
• Infotainment: You get an 11.3-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Denali and AT4X also benefit from a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The Canyon’s fuel consumption is 13.2 L/100 km in the city, 10.9 on the highway, and 12.2 combined. An AT4X AEV tester was rated at 14.9 L/100 km combined, and real-world testing recorded 17.4 L/100 km.

Which 2024 GMC Canyon trim should I buy?

The 2024 GMC Canyon is offered in 4 trim levels: Elevation, AT4, Denali, and AT4X.

Here's the short version:

• Elevation: This is the best-value starting point if you want the Canyon’s core strengths without chasing the pricier trims. You still get the strong engine, 4WD, the 11-inch digital gauge cluster, the 11.3-inch touchscreen, and the truck’s upscale feel, but some convenience and safety features cost extra.
• AT4: This is the trim to target if you want a more off-road-oriented setup without going all the way to the top. It adds a more capable character and is a sensible step up if you plan to use the truck beyond pavement.
• Denali: Choose this if you want the most luxury-focused Canyon. It leans into the truck’s premium materials and upscale cabin feel, and it adds features that make it better suited to daily driving and longer trips.
• AT4X: This is the one for you if off-road capability is the priority. It adds driver-selectable front and rear lockers, and the AEV package takes capability even further with 35-inch all-terrain tyres, skid plates, beadlock-capable wheels, and a lift kit.

The safety package is available on lower trims, so you should check whether the features you want are standard or bundled into an option package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 GMC Canyon?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 183 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.44% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $51,324 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $51,324 CAD sits slightly below last year's $54,858 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Canyon has become a little easier to buy than it was a year ago. For a future seller, that means you may face more pressure to price competitively if the market stays soft.

The current trend also hints that well-equipped examples may hold appeal better than stripped or heavily optioned trucks that push too far above the market average. If you buy carefully now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pain later.

Is the 2024 GMC Canyon safe?

The 2024 GMC Canyon earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side-impact tests from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The Canyon comes standard with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, and a rear-seat reminder system. Rear park assist, rear cross-traffic braking, and blind-zone steering assist are available on lower trims through an option package, so you’ll want to confirm exactly what’s included on the used example you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2024 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.44% compared with last year.
• It adds the new AEV package, which boosts off-road capability with extra height, 35-inch tyres, skid plates, and a full-size spare.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $48,109 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $51,324 CAD average.
• It introduced the redesigned Canyon and established the truck’s more upscale, more capable direction.

The bottom line: If you want the newest off-road hardware and can stretch for it, the 2024 is the better pick. If your priority is saving money while still getting the redesigned Canyon’s core strengths, the 2023 is the smarter value play.
