Is the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD a good car?

Yes — 4.5/5 is a strong user rating for a heavy-duty pickup, and the Silverado 3500HD’s appeal is built around serious work capability, broad configuration choices, and useful trailering technology. The overview points to a truck that is aimed at buyers who need real towing and payload strength, while still offering modern connectivity and available driver-assist features. For you, that means it makes the most sense if your priorities are hauling, towing, and flexibility rather than a soft-riding daily driver. 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview suggests a truck designed around proven heavy-duty capability, with straightforward V8 power, an Allison ten-speed automatic, and a focus on towing hardware and trailering tech. That kind of setup can be appealing if you want a work-focused truck with fewer surprises in day-to-day use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about complexity and more about making sure the truck’s hard-working past matches the condition you see today.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find decent value.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 177 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.89% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $71,837 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD's resale value?

The current average of $73,092 CAD sits slightly below last year's $81,118 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future resale will depend heavily on how much further the market moves. If prices stabilise, a well-kept truck bought near the current average could hold up reasonably well. If you plan to sell later, the strongest value will likely come from examples with desirable equipment, clean history, and the kind of configuration heavy-duty buyers actively seek.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a heavy-duty truck with strong capability, modern trailering tech, and a market that currently offers some pricing relief, the 2024 is the primary year to target. If your main goal is to minimise upfront cost, you should also compare nearby years and focus on the best-priced truck with the right configuration and condition rather than the newest badge alone.

How does the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD compare to the 2024 Ford F-350 Super Duty?
