The overview also points to a solid safety focus and broad everyday usefulness, which are the kinds of traits many used buyers want for dependable ownership. The current average of $23,602 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,539 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also suggests the model has already absorbed some of its recent value adjustment. If you plan to sell later, the current market gives you a useful benchmark for setting expectations. A practical, well-equipped compact car with standard all-wheel drive should continue to attract shoppers who value utility and confidence in poor weather.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Subaru Impreza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $26,933 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $23,602 CAD average.
• It adds a revived RS trim for more driver excitement.

The bottom line: Choose the 2023 if you want the better value and are focused on standard all-wheel drive, comfort, and everyday practicality. Consider the 2024 if you want to pay more for a newer take with extra driver appeal, especially if you value the revived RS trim.
