Why it stands out
The 2023 Mazda CX-5 continues to impress with its stylish design and high-quality interior, making it feel more like a luxury SUV than a mass-market vehicle. Despite being on the market since 2017, it remains a strong contender in the compact crossover segment, especially with its available turbocharged engine that delivers a thrilling driving experience. The CX-5 boasts a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), highlighting its commitment to safety. However, potential buyers should be aware of its limitations, including a cramped back seat and a cargo area that may not meet the needs of all families. The infotainment system has also received criticism for its user interface, which can be frustrating to navigate. Overall, the 2023 Mazda CX-5 is an appealing choice for those seeking a stylish and fun-to-drive compact SUV, but it may not be the best fit for everyone.

This was the car my daughter wanted, and I can see why. Sharp exterior, especially the black wheels and trim against the blue/gray paint- it really pops! The interior is just as sharp with loads of features that would cost extra in other manufactures. Engine performance is nice, with sport and normal modes to save gas. She is ecstatic about it so that makes me ecstatic. I talked to many Mazda owners and read lots of reports/reviews. So far, the word on the street about their reliability, performance, presentation, costs, etc... is spot on. I bought a brand new Toyota RAV4 for myself a few months ago. If you are considering an SUV like that, you should also check out the Mazda models. Highly recommend, and I might have bought a Mazda myself if I had known more about them!!

Love driving this midsized SUV for its superior handling and its peppy motor.

I had been told to stick to Honda or Toyota for a practical car but I was frustrated having to go higher trims to get my dealbreakers like keyless entry or power seats. I also hadn’t been a fan of SUVs but wanted more cargo space, so I was looking for hatchbacks, but they are so hard to find. Thankfully a friend with this car suggested I try it- I was floored to see how many reasonably priced barely used options I had! And more importantly, the BASE model has everything I could want- keyless entry, power seats, heated seats, a great screen, and so much cargo space. I was comfortable driving this IMMEDIATELY despite never having an SUV. The seats being leather trim with suede centers are truly the best of both worlds. And I could care less than it doesn’t have a touch screen, because the control knob is amazing. I love that the base model has all these perks without a moonroof, which I truly did not want. The only downside I can think of is a less than stellar fuel economy, but I just don’t drive long enough distances for that to be much of a concern for me personally..
