Used 2023 Land Rover Defender for Sale nearWindsor, ON

How much does the 2023 Land Rover Defender cost?

Prices have softened 19.66% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 140 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Land Rover Defender a good car?

It is a compelling choice if you want character, capability, and configuration flexibility more than everyday polish; the user rating is 3/5, and the expert rating is 7.17/10.

The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

The Defender’s appeal comes from its classic style, broad customisation, and wide range of powertrain and body choices, including the extended-length variant. The trade-off is that the cabin is too utilitarian and body roll is a drawback, so it is not the most refined option for daily driving.

With 41.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is meaningful market choice if you want to shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Land Rover Defender reliable?

The Defender is built around rugged capability and durable-minded design, with an interior that uses materials meant to resist moisture and stains.

Its performance character is also part of the reliability story: the drivetrain is tuned for serious off-road use, with permanent four-wheel drive and Terrain Response 2 helping the vehicle adapt to different surfaces. The six-cylinder mild-hybrid setup also turns off and restarts smoothly, without shuddering.

If you are buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is that its complex capability hardware and premium packaging can be costly to live with over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Land Rover Defender?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base cabin is functional but sparse, while higher trims add more comfort and convenience features. The X trim brings air suspension, a locking rear differential, an upgraded Terrain Response 2 system, a head-up display, the larger touchscreen, and a rearview mirror with a camera display.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a turbocharged four-cylinder, a mild-hybrid inline-six, or a supercharged V8. The four-cylinder is best suited to local driving, while the six-cylinder adds smoother response and the V8 delivers the strongest performance.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking. A 360-degree camera system, a digital instrument panel with full-screen maps, and a head-up display are available, while self-steering highway assist is not offered.
• Infotainment: The Defender uses Pivi Pro with a standard 10-inch screen, and an optional 11.4-inch touchscreen is available. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, along with a voice assistant and connected apps.
• Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder 110 is rated at 14.2 L/100 km in the city, 11.7 on the highway, and 13.0 combined. The six-cylinder 110 is rated at 12.9/10.4/11.8 L/100 km, while the V8 returns 16.4/12.7/14.7 L/100 km.

Which 2023 Land Rover Defender trim should I buy?

The 2023 Land Rover Defender is offered in 8 trim levels: 110 S, SE, X-Dynamic SE, X, V8, 90, 110, and 130.

Here's the short version:

• 110 S: This is the entry point if you want the Defender’s core character with heated 12-way power seats, leather, and a Meridian sound system.
• SE: This trim adds fog lights, half-circle daytime running lights, surround sound, an auto-dimming exterior driver’s side mirror, auto high beams, and cooled front seats, making it a strong value step up.
• X-Dynamic SE: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look, with silver exterior accents, black rear tow hooks, and Robustec seat trim details.
• X: This is the best-equipped mainstream choice, adding air suspension, a locking rear differential, an upgraded Terrain Response 2 system, a head-up display, the larger touchscreen, and a rearview mirror with a camera display.
• V8: Pick this if performance matters most; it brings the strongest engine and the most dramatic road pace, but it is the least efficiency-focused choice.
• 90: This body style suits you if you want the shortest, most traditional two-door Defender layout.
• 110: This is the best all-rounder if you want the Defender’s mix of practicality, choice, and everyday usability.
• 130: Choose this if you want the most space and the extended-length body style for added practicality.

The X trim’s safety and capability upgrades make it the most compelling step-up for many shoppers.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Land Rover Defender?

It is a buyer-friendly time to shop if you want more negotiating room and a wider selection.

• Deal availability: 41.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 140 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.66% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $62,980 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Land Rover Defender's resale value?

The current average of $62,980 CAD sits slightly below last year's $78,396 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Defender has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means sellers may face more pressure than they did a year ago. If you plan to resell later, the current market points to a model that can still attract interest, but not at the same level of pricing strength seen previously. For a future seller, condition, trim, and equipment will matter more if you want to stand out.

Is the 2023 Land Rover Defender safe?

The 2023 Land Rover Defender earns five-star ratings from Euro NCAP and was praised for its solid structure.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking. An optional digital instrument panel can show full-screen maps, there is a head-up display, and a 360-degree camera system can provide a clear view under the front wheels and a virtual rendering while parking. Automatic steering when reversing a trailer is also available.

One caveat is that it comes with six airbags, which is fewer than you might expect in this class.

Should I buy a 2023 Land Rover Defender or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 41.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.66% compared with last year.
• The 130 body style adds more practicality to the lineup.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $57,043 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $62,980 CAD average.
• It adds a new touchscreen, standard wireless charging, and more trim choice.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $70,857 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $62,980 CAD average.
• It adds more features and expands V8 availability.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the right pick if you want the Defender’s character, added practicality from the 130, and a market that is more favourable than it was a year ago. If price is your top priority, the 2022 is the better value path; if you want the newest feature set and can spend more, the 2024 is the upgrade to watch.
