Used 2023 Land Rover Defender for Sale nearLondon, ON

How much does the 2023 Land Rover Defender cost?

Prices have softened 20.42% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 143 listings available, which suggests you have some room to compare trims and prices.

Is the 2023 Land Rover Defender a good car?

It is a compelling choice if you want a rugged SUV with real character, but you should expect some compromises. It earns a 3/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

The Defender’s appeal comes from its classic, boxy design, broad body-style choice, and strong mix of toughness and premium touches. It is especially attractive if you want something distinctive rather than conventional, and the extended-length body adds practicality without losing the Defender’s identity.

The trade-offs are clear: the cabin can feel too utilitarian, and body roll is a drawback. It is also described as poor value for money once you move up the price ladder.

With 36.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is enough market activity to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Land Rover Defender reliable?

The Defender is built around durability and capability, with excellent build quality and fit, plus a rugged interior designed to resist wear and stains. Its off-road hardware and permanent four-wheel drive reinforce that tough, long-haul character.

The powertrain lineup also supports confidence in everyday use: the six-cylinder mild-hybrid setup is described as seamless, and the eight-speed automatic is praised as flawless. That said, the vehicle’s complexity, premium pricing, and off-road-focused design mean long-term ownership can still bring higher repair and upkeep risk than a simpler used SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Land Rover Defender?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Defender 110 S gives you heated 12-way power seats with leather and a Meridian sound system, while the SE trims add fog lights, half-circle daytime running lights, surround sound, an auto-dimming exterior driver’s side mirror, auto high beams, and cooled front seats. The X-Dynamic SE adds silver exterior accents, black rear tow hooks, and Robustec seat trim, while the X brings air suspension, a locking rear differential, an upgraded Terrain Response 2 system, a head-up display, the larger touchscreen, and a rearview mirror with a camera display.
• Powertrain: The turbocharged four-cylinder is the least powerful option, while the mild-hybrid inline-six adds smoother operation and stronger response. The supercharged V8 is the most powerful choice and suits you if you want the strongest acceleration.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking. A 360-degree camera system is available, along with a digital instrument panel and head-up display. Automatic steering when reversing a trailer is also available, but self-steering highway assist is not offered.
• Infotainment: You get Pivi Pro with a standard 10-inch screen, while an optional 11.4-inch touchscreen is available. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a voice assistant, and connected apps come standard.
• Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder 110 is rated at 14.2 L/100 km in the city, 11.7 on the highway, and 13.0 combined. The six-cylinder returns 12.9/10.4/11.8 L/100 km, while the V8 is rated at 16.4/12.7/14.7 L/100 km.

Which 2023 Land Rover Defender trim should I buy?

The 2023 Land Rover Defender is offered in 6 trim levels: 110 S, SE, X-Dynamic SE, X, V8, and 130 S.

Here's the short version:

• 110 S: This is the entry point, and it already gives you heated 12-way power seats with leather and a Meridian sound system. It makes sense if you want the Defender experience without chasing expensive extras.
• SE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds useful comfort and convenience upgrades like cooled front seats, surround sound, fog lights, and auto high beams.
• X-Dynamic SE: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look and a few extra exterior and interior touches, including silver accents, black rear tow hooks, and Robustec seat trim.
• X: This is the most feature-rich non-V8 choice, with air suspension, a locking rear differential, upgraded Terrain Response 2, a head-up display, and the larger touchscreen.
• V8: Pick this if performance matters most. It is the most powerful version and brings the Defender’s strongest straight-line pace.
• 130 S: This is the extended-length option if you want the most practical body style and can live with the simpler S-level equipment.

The X trim is the one that most clearly adds the advanced off-road and visibility hardware, while the SE is the trim most buyers should cross-shop first.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Land Rover Defender?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to be picky if you are shopping carefully.

• Deal availability: 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 143 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 20.42% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $62,076 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Land Rover Defender's resale value?

The current average of $62,076 CAD sits slightly below last year's $78,001 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers than sellers. If you own one now, you may need to price competitively to move it quickly.

For future resale, the Defender’s distinctive image and broad trim range should help it hold interest, but premium SUVs can still be sensitive to mileage, condition, and equipment level. A well-kept example with desirable features should be easier to position than a higher-priced, lightly equipped one.

Is the 2023 Land Rover Defender safe?

The Defender scored five of five stars in Euro NCAP crash testing and was praised for its solid structure.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Land Rover equips it with six airbags, which is fewer than you might expect for a vehicle of this size and price. Standard safety equipment includes lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking, while a 360-degree camera system, a digital instrument panel, and a head-up display are available. Automatic steering when reversing a trailer is also available, but self-steering highway assist is not offered.

Should I buy a 2023 Land Rover Defender or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 20.42% compared with last year.
• It adds the extended 130 body style for more practicality.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $56,197 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $62,076 CAD average.
• It adds wireless phone charging and a broader trim range.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $70,449 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $62,076 CAD average.
• It adds more features and expands V8 availability.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the best all-around pick if you want the Defender’s mix of character, practicality, and current-market value. If your budget is tighter, the 2022 is the smarter price-first alternative, while the 2024 makes sense if you want the newest feature set and are willing to pay more.
