Is the 2023 Hyundai Palisade a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Hyundai Palisade earns a 5/5 from owners and an 8.8/10 from our experts. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its great value, comfortable ride, excellent features, and spacious third row. The Palisade’s family-friendly use case comes through clearly in the overview, especially if you want a roomy three-row SUV with a more upscale feel.

The main trade-offs are that AWD is not standard and some drivers want more engine power, plus features like folding side view mirrors and wireless Apple CarPlay.

With 29.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Palisade reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise for its comfortable ride and strong value. The expert review also supports that impression by highlighting Hyundai’s five-year/100,000-kilometre warranty coverage, which is a useful ownership advantage.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about reliability and more about whether the features and trim level you want are present on the specific vehicle you choose.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Hyundai Palisade?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Preferred trim comes with cloth seats, while Urban adds leatherette and ventilated front seats; Ultimate Calligraphy brings premium Nappa leather, ventilated rear seats, and a more upscale look. The base trim also misses some of the richer cabin touches found higher up.
• Powertrain: You get a single 3.8-litre V6 with 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It is tuned for comfort and towing rather than rock-crawling.
• Safety package: Hyundai Smart Sense is standard, with forward collision avoidance, driver attention warning, high beam assist, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, safe exit warning, and rear seat occupant alert. Highway Driving Assist I is standard on Urban, while Highway Driving Assist II is standard on Ultimate Calligraphy.
• Infotainment: A 12.3-inch colour touchscreen is standard, along with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, HD Radio, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluetooth. Wireless charging is standard only on Ultimate Calligraphy, and the digital instrument cluster is larger on Urban and Ultimate Calligraphy.
• Fuel efficiency: The Palisade consumes 12.6 litres per 100 kilometres in city driving, 9.5 on the highway, and 11.2 combined.

Which 2023 Hyundai Palisade trim should I buy?

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade is offered in 3 trim levels: Preferred, Urban, and Ultimate Calligraphy.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred: This is the value play if you want the Palisade’s core strengths without stretching for luxury extras. You still get the standard safety suite, the 12.3-inch touchscreen, and the roomy three-row layout.
• Urban: This is the best-value upgrade if you want a more premium daily experience. It adds leatherette upholstery, ventilated front seats, a larger digital instrument cluster, and Highway Driving Assist I.
• Ultimate Calligraphy: This is the most luxurious version, with Nappa leather, ventilated rear seats, a dual-pane sunroof, a head-up display, Highway Driving Assist II, and the most upscale cabin presentation.

Safety equipment is strongest as you move up the range, with Highway Driving Assist I on Urban and Highway Driving Assist II on Ultimate Calligraphy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Hyundai Palisade?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 376 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.54% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $38,954 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Hyundai Palisade's resale value?

The current average of $38,954 CAD sits slightly below last year's $46,119 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can make resale a little tougher for current owners in the near term. If you buy now, you may benefit from the softer pricing, but future sellers should expect value to depend heavily on trim, condition, and equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Hyundai Palisade or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.54% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 adds an exterior facelift plus more standard and optional tech and safety features.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $32,279 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $38,954 CAD average.
• It offers standard all-wheel drive and a spacious, polished family-SUV layout.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $42,893 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $38,954 CAD average.
• It adds an upscale feel with thoughtful amenities and a more distinctive design.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of updated features and softened pricing, the 2023 is the smart default. If your priority is lower purchase price, the 2022 is the value route; if you want a newer-feeling, more upscale presentation, the 2024 is worth the extra spend.
