Is the 2023 Kia Telluride a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Kia Telluride earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 9/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the comfort, technology, and upscale feel, and many say it feels more premium than its price suggests. The Telluride also stands out for its smooth ride and extensive feature content, which makes it especially appealing if you want a family-friendly three-row SUV that feels well equipped.

The main trade-off is that some interior materials feel cheap, and the manual third-row seating and steering wheel drew some criticism from owners. Even so, the overall package remains strong for shoppers who want a stylish, comfortable, and well-rounded SUV.

With 34.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2023 Kia Telluride reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with repeated praise for comfort, technology, and the sense that the vehicle holds up well over time. The expert review also describes it as a strong all-around SUV that is easy to recommend, which supports the impression that it should be a solid long-term choice.

For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about major reliability concerns and more about finding one that has been cared for properly, especially given how feature-rich and heavily used family SUVs can be.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Kia Telluride?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The X-Line and X-Pro add raised suspension, unique exterior details, and a more aggressive off-road look, while the SX trim brings additional safety technology that lower trims do not get.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.8-litre V6 with 291 horsepower and an 8-speed automatic transmission, plus AWD with drive modes and a Lock setting.
• Safety package: Kia’s standard suite includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, junction turning assist, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, Highway Drive Assist 1.5, automatic high beams, driver attention warning, and Rear Occupant Alert. Advanced Highway Drive Assist with Lane Change Assist starts on SX trim, and additional collision-avoidance features are also tied to SX and above.
• Infotainment: Every model gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM, navigation, Kia Connect, OTA updates, and a wireless phone charger; the digital instrumentation panel is available, and the Harman Kardon audio system starts from SX.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review recorded 9.8 L/100 km in mixed driving for the X-Line, 11.5 L/100 km for the X-Pro, and an official combined rating of 11.4 L/100 km.

Which 2023 Kia Telluride trim should I buy?

The 2023 Kia Telluride is offered in 5 trim levels: EX, SX, SX Limited, X-Line, and X-Pro.

Here's the short version:

• EX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Telluride formula with standard AWD, the full-size family-SUV layout, and the broad standard equipment that makes the model appealing in the first place.
• SX: This is the best-value trim if you want the strongest mix of equipment and safety upgrades, because it adds the advanced Highway Drive Assist setup and unlocks more collision-avoidance features.
• SX Limited: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and the richer equipment mix that sits above the SX.
• X-Line: Pick this if you want the more rugged look and the raised suspension, while still keeping the Telluride’s family-friendly character.
• X-Pro: This is the most capability-focused version, with all-terrain tires, exclusive wheels, improved cooling, and the highest towing capacity mentioned.

The safety package gets more advanced starting with SX trim, so that’s the key trim-level note to keep in mind.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Kia Telluride?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 235 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.22% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $41,359 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Kia Telluride's resale value?

The current average of $41,359 CAD sits slightly below last year's $48,782 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Telluride has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. For a later seller, that matters because a lower entry point can reduce the amount of value left to lose over time.

The Telluride’s strong reputation, broad appeal, and high owner satisfaction should help keep demand healthy in the used market. Well-equipped family SUVs with this kind of following often remain easier to move when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Kia Telluride safe?

The 2023 Telluride is a Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia equips every Telluride with a long list of standard safety features, including forward-collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, junction turning assist, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, Highway Drive Assist 1.5, automatic high beams, driver attention warning, and Rear Occupant Alert.

Advanced Highway Drive Assist 1.5 is standard, and Advanced Highway Drive Assist with Lane Change Assist starts on SX trim. Additional collision-avoidance features are also tied to SX and above, so trim choice matters if you want the fullest safety package.

Should I buy a 2023 Kia Telluride or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds minor styling updates, new technology, and X-Line/X-Pro trims with more off-road attitude.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $46,460 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $41,359 CAD average.
• It keeps the formula largely intact while adding minor detail changes.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2023 is the smarter buy because it delivers the core Telluride strengths at a lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2024 is the cleaner follow-up, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2023.
