CarGurus Analysis: 2023 Genesis G70
overall

Summary
With 69 currently listed for sale and an average price of $37,383 CAD, 21.7% of 2023 Genesis G70 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2023 Genesis G70 4.57 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.33 / 10.
Why it stands out
The 2023 Genesis G70 stands out as a small luxury sedan that blends style, performance, and everyday usability in a way that feels well judged for the segment. Genesis says the G70 was launched for the 2019 model year and received a major update for 2022, including a restyling to bring it in line with other current Genesis models; for 2023, it carries over unchanged. That makes this version appealing to buyers who want a current-looking luxury sedan without the distraction of a fresh redesign.
In Canada, the 2023 Genesis G70 comes with standard all-wheel drive, and Genesis offers a choice of 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder and 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6 powertrains. Four-cylinder models are available in Select, Advanced, and Prestige trim levels, while V6 models start at Advanced and top out with the Sport trim level. The result is a lineup that can be tailored from a more accessible entry point to a more powerful, better-equipped version, while still keeping the G70’s core identity intact.
What makes the 2023 Genesis G70 especially appealing is how complete it feels as a small luxury sedan. Genesis describes it as stylish, fun to drive, and easy to use, and owners also praise its beautiful design, performance, luxurious interior, and value compared with other luxury brands. The main trade-offs are worth noting, though: the V6 is said to have poor fuel economy, and the car does not offer much cargo space.

This is the Sport Prestige package and my lord is it amazing. The interior is comfy, looks nice and the features suit my needs. The Siberian ice is stunning with its aftermarket wheels. I was considering this, a ct4v blackwing, is500 or the new scat pack and I just felt this car is of better value.

How much does the 2023 Genesis G70 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $37,293 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $36,190 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $40,886 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $40,241 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −7.33% |
Prices have softened 7.33% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 66 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for you to compare.
Is the 2023 Genesis G70 a good car?
Yes — the 2023 Genesis G70 earns a 4.6/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Safety.
Owners consistently praise its beautiful design, performance, and value compared with other luxury brands, and they also highlight its luxurious interior and powerful handling. The G70 is aimed at you if you want a small luxury sedan that feels stylish and well judged rather than merely practical.
The trade-offs are clear: the V6 is noted for poor fuel economy, and cargo space is limited. Even so, the car’s strong standard equipment and upscale character help it feel complete, and 21.2% of listings are marked as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop carefully.
Is the 2023 Genesis G70 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with praise for its performance, luxurious interior, and value. The expert review also describes the G70 as a good value with a great chassis, ergonomic cockpit, intuitive tech, and a decent array of standard safety features.
Genesis also includes five years of scheduled maintenance with at-home vehicle pick-up and delivery, which helps reduce early ownership hassle. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that depreciation and resale value may be weaker than you’d like.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Genesis G70?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The four-cylinder models are available in Select, Advanced, and Prestige trim levels, while V6 models start at Advanced and top out with the Sport trim level. Base cars get leatherette seating, while higher trims add leather or Nappa leather, and the upper end brings features such as Brembo brakes and ventilated front seats.
- Powertrain: You can choose between a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder and a 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6. Both use an eight-speed automatic, and the V6 is the stronger choice if you want quicker acceleration, though it uses more fuel.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a driver-attention monitor, automatic high beams, rear-seat reminder, safe-exit assist, and Highway Driving Assist with automated lane centring. Upper trims add front and rear park distance control, rain-sensing wipers, and a blind-spot view camera system.
- Infotainment: The standard system uses a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Bluetooth and SiriusXM satellite radio. Wireless smartphone mirroring is not included, and the car does not get a fully digital instrument cluster.
- Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder is rated at 11.4 L/100 km in city driving, 8.2 on the highway, and 10.0 combined. The V6 is rated at 13.5 L/100 km city, 9.1 highway, and 11.5 combined.
Which 2023 Genesis G70 trim should I buy?
The 2023 Genesis G70 is offered in 5 trim levels: Select, Advanced, Prestige, Advanced, Sport.
Here's the short version:
- Select: This is the entry point if you want the G70’s core style, standard all-wheel drive, and a strong safety and tech baseline without stretching your budget.
- Advanced: This is the best-value trim if you want a more complete luxury feel, since it opens the door to more equipment while staying below the top-end models.
- Prestige: Choose this if you want a richer feature set and are willing to pay for more comfort and convenience.
- Advanced: On the V6 side, this is the starting point if you want the stronger engine and are willing to step up from the four-cylinder lineup.
- Sport: This is the trim to target if you want the most powerful and most fully equipped version, including the standout hardware and comfort upgrades mentioned in the review.
The safety package is generous across the lineup, but upper trims add useful extras such as park distance control and the blind-spot view camera system.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Genesis G70?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on well-priced examples.
- Deal availability: 21.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 66 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.33% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $36,190 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Genesis G70's resale value?
The current average of $37,293 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,241 CAD.
That softer pricing suggests the G70 may be a better buy than a sell right now, especially if you are planning to own it for several years. For a future seller, the current trend means you should expect more competition from similarly priced listings when it is time to trade in or list the car privately. The upside is that a well-kept example with the right trim and equipment can still stand out in a crowded luxury-sedan market.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2023 Genesis G70 safe?
The 2023 G70 earns the IIHS’s highest Top Safety Pick+ award.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Genesis equips the G70 with a long list of standard driver aids, including forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a driver-attention monitor, automatic high beams, rear-seat reminder, and safe-exit assist. Highway Driving Assist is also standard, combining adaptive cruise control with automated lane centring.
Upper trims add front and rear park distance control, rain-sensing wipers, and a blind-spot view camera system. The main caveat is that Highway Driving Assist requires you to keep your hands on the wheel, and the lane centring can feel less smooth than some rivals.
Should I buy a 2023 Genesis G70 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 21.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.33% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It carries over the refreshed design and strong standard safety equipment from the prior update.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $31,202 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $37,293 CAD average.
- It brought the refreshed styling, improved infotainment, and Highway Driving Assist.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $40,785 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $37,293 CAD average.
- It adds a new, more powerful base engine.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of current styling, strong safety, and softer pricing, the 2023 is the sensible pick. If your priority is spending less, the 2022 is the value play; if you want the newest powertrain upgrade, the 2024 is the step up.
