Is the 2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD a good car?

Generally — the 4/5 user rating points to a truck that satisfies many shoppers looking for heavy-duty capability with a more upscale feel. The overview also shows why: you get a broader trim range than many rivals, luxury-oriented Denali versions, and a mix of work-ready and premium features that make it appealing if you want serious capability without giving up cabin comfort. That balance makes it especially relevant if you need a heavy-duty pickup for both jobsite duty and everyday use. With 31.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD reliable?

The overview suggests a truck built around serious capability and a premium feature set, which is a good sign if you want a heavy-duty pickup that feels well equipped. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that higher-trim examples can be expensive to maintain and repair if they’ve been worked hard.

What is the 2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $66,270 CAD sits slightly below last year's $72,223 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays cool. For a seller, the current trend suggests you should expect stronger interest in well-equipped examples that stand out on features and condition. Trucks with premium trims and strong perceived value tend to hold attention better when shoppers are comparing heavy-duty options.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.24% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $60,985 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $66,270 CAD average.
• It balances capability with broad work-and-play appeal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $77,981 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $66,270 CAD average.
• It adds a newly available top trim with a more premium focus.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the best all-around choice if you want a heavy-duty truck with upscale appeal and a softer used-market price than newer alternatives. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2022 is the smarter value play; if you want the newest premium trim and can stretch your budget, the 2024 is the upgrade path.
