Is the 2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD a good car?

Generally — 4/5 is a solid user rating for a heavy-duty pickup, and the Sierra 2500HD’s overview points to a truck that leans more upscale than many rivals. It offers a broader range of trims and more luxury-oriented options than the related Silverado 2500HD, so you can shop it as both a work truck and a more premium daily driver. That makes it a strong fit if you want serious capability without giving up a nicer cabin. 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview suggests a truck built to serve both work and comfort needs, with available off-road hardware, premium cabin features, and modern infotainment equipment. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that higher-spec heavy-duty trucks can be expensive to keep in top condition.

What is the 2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $65,198 CAD sits slightly below last year's $70,724 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy at a more favourable point in the cycle. If you plan to sell later, the current softness means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, trim, and equipment. Higher-spec versions may still attract strong interest because this model year is positioned as a more premium heavy-duty truck.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.81% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $60,756 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $65,198 CAD average.
• It balances serious capability with broad work-and-play appeal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $77,811 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $65,198 CAD average.
• It adds the newly available Denali Ultimate trim with a more premium mission.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the best all-around choice if you want a premium-leaning heavy-duty truck at a more manageable used price. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the better value path; if you want the newest upscale features and can stretch your budget, the 2024 is the upgrade to consider.
