The current average of $65,670 CAD sits slightly below last year's $71,683 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favourable point in the cycle, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. For a future seller, the current trend suggests you should focus on buying well and keeping the truck in strong condition so you can protect value later. Premium-heavy-duty trucks can still attract demand when they’re well equipped and properly maintained.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.39% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $60,470 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $65,670 CAD average.
• It balances serious capability with broad work-and-play appeal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $77,364 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $65,670 CAD average.
• It adds the newly available Denali Ultimate trim with a more premium focus.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price and premium heavy-duty appeal, the 2023 is the main path to consider. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the better secondary option, while the 2024 makes sense only if you want the newer top-end trim and are comfortable paying more.
