Used 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 for Sale nearGrande Prairie, AB

How much does the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 11.68% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,420 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 earns 4.3/5 from owners and 7.8/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Drivers commonly praise its stylish design, advanced technology, and comfortable ride. The variety of options and the improved interior also come up often. In use, that lines up well with the Sierra’s positioning as a highly equipped full-size pickup rather than a stripped-down work truck.

The trade-offs are that it can feel like too much technology for a truck, and the cabin quality still trails some rivals. City parking can also be a challenge without tech aids. Even so, the Sierra 1500’s broad feature spread and upscale focus make it a strong fit if you want a premium-leaning pickup.

Only 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is somewhat selective.

Is the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as dependable and appreciate the sense that it can be counted on for daily use. The feedback also points to a comfortable, well-equipped truck that many owners expect to keep for the long term.

The expert drive notes also support that impression, describing the Sierra as smooth, composed, and well suited to highway use. GMC backs it with a five-year/100,000-kilometre powertrain warranty, which helps reduce early ownership risk for used buyers. Still, some owner feedback mentions engine concerns for long-term ownership, so a careful pre-purchase inspection is wise.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 GMC Sierra 1500?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Pro is the simplest version and keeps the older, more intuitive infotainment layout, but it misses some basic conveniences such as a tilt and telescoping steering column. Higher trims add more comfort and luxury, with the Denali Ultimate bringing nearly every feature optional on other trims.
• Powertrain: You can find a 2.7-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.0-litre Duramax turbocharged inline-six diesel, and 5.3-litre and 6.2-litre V8 options. The diesel is described as lively and strong for highway use, while the turbo-four is the base engine.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and GM’s Teen Driver system. Higher trims can add blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera system, GM’s Safety Alert seat, and Super Cruise.
• Infotainment: The base Pro uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Every other trim gets a 13.4-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Google-connected apps.
• Fuel efficiency: The Duramax turbo diesel with rear-wheel drive is the most efficient setup at 10.1 L/100 km city, 8.1 highway, and 9.2 combined. The turbo-four returns 12.7 L/100 km city, 11.2 highway, and 12.0 combined, while the 5.3-litre V8 returns 14.3/11.2/12.9 and the 6.2-litre V8 returns 16.7/14.0/15.5.

Which 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in 8 trim levels: Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, AT4X, Denali, and Denali Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Pro: This is the value-focused starting point if you want the Sierra’s core truck capability and the simpler 7-inch infotainment setup. It’s the least expensive route into the lineup, but you give up some convenience features that appear on higher trims.
• SLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, a digital instrument panel, a larger touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, extra USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Elevation: This trim keeps much of the SLE’s equipment while opening the door to additional options and packages, so it suits you if you want a more personalised build.
• SLT: This is the first trim that clearly leans upscale, adding leather upholstery, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, and memory settings for the driver’s seat.
• AT4: Choose this if you want the off-road-oriented setup, including standard 4WD, skid plates, a lifted suspension, a two-speed transfer case, and an upgraded air filter.
• AT4X: This is the more serious trail-focused model, with steel bumpers, an integrated front winch, 33-inch mud-terrain tyres, additional skid plates, upgraded dampers, and electronically locking front and rear differentials.
• Denali: This is the luxury trim for buyers who want premium touches such as a Bose audio system, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, and a camera view of the truck bed.
• Denali Ultimate: This is the top choice if you want the most lavish Sierra, with full-grain leather, massaging front seats, 22-inch wheels, a 12-speaker Bose system, and the integrated Kicker sound system in the Multi-Pro tailgate.

The safety package expands as you move up the lineup, and the Denali Ultimate includes every available driver-assistance feature.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 GMC Sierra 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough price movement to create opportunities.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,420 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.68% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $49,536 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $49,536 CAD sits slightly below last year's $56,088 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more truck for the money today, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market. If prices stay closer to the current average than last year’s peak, resale values may remain under pressure in the near term. On the other hand, well-equipped trims and desirable powertrains should still attract buyers who want a premium full-size pickup.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 comes standard with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and GM’s Teen Driver system.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Higher trims add blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera system, GM’s Safety Alert seat, and GM’s Super Cruise driver assist system. Super Cruise supports hands-free highway driving and can even perform a hands-free lane change with a tap of the turn-signal indicator. The Denali Ultimate includes every one of these available features.

Should I buy a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.68% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It adds the Denali Ultimate trim and combines luxury ambition with strong cabin space.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $46,566 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $49,536 CAD average.
• It brings a major makeover with bolder styling, richer tech, and broader premium appeal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $54,754 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $49,536 CAD average.
• It broadens versatility with multiple powertrains and easier-to-live-with technology.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of price and premium features, the 2023 is the sweet spot. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2022 is the better value play, while the 2024 makes sense if you want to spend more for a newer model-year step up.
