The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Trade-offs: It can get expensive fast, and its engines are thirsty. Its wide turning radius can also make manoeuvring less convenient in tighter spaces.

Is the 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty reliable?

The 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty is presented as a modernised heavy-duty truck that keeps the straightforward character buyers expect while adding tech and powertrain improvements.

Ford’s expert notes point to strong performance from the available engines and a 10-speed automatic that keeps the diesel in its optimal powerband. That combination suggests a truck built to handle demanding work without feeling outdated.

On the cost side, the expert commentary also frames the truck as a solid value in this segment, especially if you choose a lower-tier trim and focus on the features you actually need.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that heavy-duty capability often comes with higher running costs, especially if you choose a more powerful engine or a higher-spec trim.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XL is the work-truck starting point, but it still includes 17-inch wheels, vinyl upholstery, a four-speaker sound system, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The XLT adds cloth upholstery, heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, SiriusXM, two wall-style power outlets, and an integrated trailer brake controller. The Lariat brings leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, wireless device charging, dual-zone automatic climate control, a fully digital instrument cluster, remote start, a heated steering wheel, and a larger 12-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. The King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited move further into luxury territory.
• Powertrain: The truck offers a 6.8-litre gas V8, a 7.3-litre V8, a 6.7-litre PowerStroke turbodiesel V8, and a high-output PowerStroke turbodiesel. Power is routed through a 10-speed automatic, with rear-wheel drive on the base XL and standard four-wheel drive on other trims.
• Safety package: Ford CoPilot 360 starts at the XLT trim and can include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane centring assist, traffic sign recognition, and a 360-degree parking camera system. Feature content varies by trim, so check carefully before you buy.
• Infotainment: The base truck uses an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims can get a 12-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, plus a logical layout and redundant physical controls.
• Fuel efficiency: In combined city and highway driving, the high-output diesel returned 13.1 L/100 km. Other reported figures include around 21 L/100 km for the 6.8-litre gas engine, around 19 to 21 L/100 km for the 7.3-litre gas engine, and 14 to 18 L/100 km for the 6.7-litre diesel engine.

Which 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty trim should I buy?

The 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty is offered in 6 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the most affordable path into the lineup, and it still gives you the essentials you need for work, including the 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a basic but functional cabin. It makes sense if you want the truck’s core capability without paying for extras you may not use.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds meaningful comfort and convenience upgrades, including heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, SiriusXM, extra power outlets, and an integrated trailer brake controller. It is a smart middle ground if you want a more usable daily driver without jumping into luxury pricing.
• Lariat: This is the trim to target if you want the biggest step up in comfort and technology, with leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, wireless charging, a digital instrument cluster, remote start, a heated steering wheel, and the larger 12-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone integration. It suits you if you plan to spend a lot of time in the truck.
• King Ranch: This is one of the more upscale choices, with distinctive styling, premium leather, an 18-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo, auxiliary switches for add-ons, and work-friendly extras such as fifth-wheel towing prep and Pro Power Onboard. It is a strong pick if you want luxury with serious towing and hauling capability.
• Platinum: This trim delivers similar comfort to the King Ranch but with a more cosmopolitan look, plus features such as LED fog lights, power-deploying running boards, a powered tailgate, and power-adjustable pedals. It suits you if you want a polished, high-end truck.
• Limited: This is the range-topper, with nearly every available package and option, including max-recline seats, a massive dual-panel sunroof, and unique interior and exterior styling. It is the choice if you want the most luxurious Super Duty experience.

Starting at the XLT trim, Ford CoPilot 360 is included, but the exact feature set depends on how much you’ve paid for your truck.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 156 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 20.16% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $62,545 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty's resale value?

The current average of $64,111 CAD sits slightly below last year's $80,298 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has moved in your favour if you are buying now, but it also means a future seller may face more price pressure than owners did a year ago. If you plan to resell later, the truck’s value will likely depend heavily on trim, engine choice, and condition. Higher-spec versions may still command stronger interest, but the overall trend points to softer resale than before.

Is the 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty safe?

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford CoPilot 360 is the key driver-assistance suite, and depending on trim it can include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane centring assist, traffic sign recognition, and a 360-degree parking camera system.

For a truck this large, the parking camera system is especially important, and Ford also offers trailer-focused tools such as trailer blind-spot monitoring and a backup camera for when the tailgate is lowered.

Should I buy a 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 20.16% compared with last year.
• It is the year that brings a modest restyle plus thoughtful tech and powertrain updates, while still keeping the truck’s straightforward character and broad trim range.

The bottom line: If you want a heavy-duty pickup that feels current, the 2023 is the right place to start. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby model years and focus on whichever one gives you the trim and engine you need at the best asking price.
