Used 2023 Ford Escape for Sale nearOshawa, ON

How much does the 2023 Ford Escape cost?

Prices have softened 10.65% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 573 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Ford Escape a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Ford Escape earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its performance, interior comfort, and modern features, while also highlighting its spaciousness, smooth handling, and commendable fuel efficiency. In practical terms, that lines up well with the Escape’s appeal as an upscale, tech-forward compact crossover for shoppers who want a familiar name with a polished feel.

The trade-offs are clear: it can feel a bit cramped, and the cabin materials can feel cheap. It also sits on the higher end of the segment on price, so the value equation depends on how much you care about its equipment and presentation.

With 32.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Ford Escape reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners also describe it as reliable, dependable, and practical, with feedback that points to a vehicle people feel good about living with over time. The expert assessment also supports that impression by noting the Escape’s predictable brakes, well-weighted steering, and soft, compliant ride that handles rough roads well.

Ford’s maintenance coverage is not highlighted here, so your long-term ownership risk comes down mainly to condition, service history, and how well the previous owner maintained the vehicle.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Ford Escape?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Active trim starts the line-up, while higher trims add a more upscale look and more equipment. The ST-Line Elite test vehicle showed off 19-inch wheels, body-colour mirror caps, and a more polished appearance, but the cabin still used a lot of hard plastic. If you want the most premium feel, you should pay close attention to interior materials and whether the extra equipment justifies the price jump.
• Powertrain: You can get a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque, or a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. The stronger engine is paired with AWD only and is better for passing and merging, while the smaller engine is the efficiency-minded choice.
• Safety package: Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams. Co-Pilot360 2.0 adds adaptive cruise control, road sign recognition, lane-centring technology, and a surround-view camera. That upgraded suite is not standard on every trim.
• Infotainment: Lower trims get an 8-inch touchscreen, while all trims can be equipped with a 13.2-inch screen, standard on Platinum and ST-Line Elite. Sync 4 supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wi-fi hotspot can be enabled with a subscription.
• Fuel efficiency: The ST-Line Elite is rated at 10.2 L/100 km city, 7.6 highway, and 9.1 combined. A 1.5-litre FWD version returns 8.9 L/100 km city, 6.9 highway, and 8.0 combined.

Which 2023 Ford Escape trim should I buy?

The 2023 Ford Escape is offered in 5 trim levels: Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, Platinum, and ST-Line Elite.

Here's the short version:

• Active: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Escape’s core design, standard safety tech, and the lowest starting price. It is the trim to consider if you care more about getting into the model than loading up on extras.
• ST-Line: This is the better-value choice for many shoppers because it adds a sportier look without jumping straight to the pricier powertrain and luxury-oriented trims. If you want the Escape’s style and tech without stretching too far, this is the trim to focus on.
• ST-Line Select: This is the one to target if you want the 2.0-litre turbo engine and stronger passing power. It is the best fit if performance matters more to you than keeping the purchase price down.
• Platinum: This trim is aimed at shoppers who want a more upscale feel and the larger 13.2-inch screen as standard. It suits you if cabin presentation matters and you want a more premium daily driver.
• ST-Line Elite: This is the top-end choice, with the strongest engine, standard 13.2-inch display, and the most fully equipped feel. It makes sense if you want the most powerful and feature-rich Escape, but it is also the most expensive route.

Co-Pilot360 is standard across the line-up, while Co-Pilot360 2.0 is the safety upgrade to look for on higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Ford Escape?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find decent opportunities.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 573 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.65% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $26,239 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Ford Escape's resale value?

The current average of $26,239 CAD sits slightly below last year's $29,365 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Escape has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you are buying now but less favourable if you plan to sell soon. For a future seller, the softer market means you may need to price competitively to stand out, especially because the Escape sits in a crowded compact-crossover segment.

The fact that demand is still supported by a decent number of listings and a solid owner rating helps cushion resale risk somewhat. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Ford Escape safe?

The 2023 Ford Escape earns an impressive five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in frontal- and side-crash tests and a four-star rating in the rollover test. It also received a Marginal score in the IIHS updated side-impact test, while earning Good scores in the other IIHS tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford’s standard Co-Pilot360 suite includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams. Co-Pilot360 2.0 adds adaptive cruise control, road sign recognition, lane-centring technology, and a surround-view camera.

The main caveat is the IIHS side-impact result, which keeps the Escape from earning a Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ designation.

Should I buy a 2023 Ford Escape or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.65% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines strong safety tech with a useful powertrain upgrade and a refreshed cabin presentation.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $28,183 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $26,239 CAD average.
• It carries on without major changes after the 2023 refresh.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2023 is the smarter buy because it already reflects the refreshed design and comes at a lower average price. If you are price-sensitive and find a well-equipped 2023, that is likely the sweet spot; if you want the newest model year and do not mind paying more, the 2024 is the simpler alternative.
