Is the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD a good car?

The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD stands out as a heavy-duty pickup that is built around serious capability rather than car-like comfort. It has aggressive styling with a huge bluff front end, and its towing and payload numbers are the sort of figures that make sense for buyers who need to move very large trailers or heavy loads. Chevrolet also gives it a broad range of configurations, including rear-wheel drive, four-wheel drive, and dual-rear-wheel setups, so it can be tailored more closely to work demands than many lighter-duty trucks.

For buyers, the appeal is straightforward: the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD offers huge capability, a wide choice of cab and bed combinations, and a strong list of available features that make a very large truck easier to live with. It is not the plushest option in the class, but it delivers the kind of durability and towing-focused engineering that heavy-duty shoppers are looking for. 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD reliable?

The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD stands out as a heavy-duty pickup that is built around serious capability rather than car-like comfort. It has aggressive styling with a huge bluff front end, and Chevrolet gives it a broad range of configurations, including rear-wheel drive, four-wheel drive, and dual-rear-wheel setups, so it can be tailored more closely to work demands than many lighter-duty trucks.

What makes this truck especially distinctive is the combination of hauling hardware and available technology. Chevrolet offers two V8 engines, both paired with an Allison ten-speed automatic transmission, and the diesel can be paired with integrated Power Take-Off for running equipment such as dump beds. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a truck built for heavy-duty work may have seen demanding use, so condition and maintenance history matter a great deal.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD?

This is a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you can shop with some confidence if you know what you want and are willing to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 149 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.91% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $66,961 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD's resale value?

The current average of $67,033 CAD sits slightly below last year's $71,246 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more selectively today. If you plan to sell later, the current softness means you may not see the same return you would have expected a year ago. For a future seller, keeping mileage, condition, and maintenance records strong will matter even more if you want to protect value.

Should I buy a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.91% compared with last year.

The bottom line: If you want a heavy-duty truck with strong capability and a market that is a bit more forgiving than it was a year ago, the 2023 Silverado 3500HD is the primary path to consider. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby model year may be worth a look, especially if you can find a cleaner example with the equipment you need.
