Is the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD a good car?

The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD stands out as a heavy-duty pickup built for serious work rather than everyday car-like manners. It has aggressive styling with a huge bluff front end, and its capability is equally imposing: maximum towing reaches 16,300 kilograms, payload tops out at 3,300 kilograms, and the truck can be configured with a single cab, rear-drive, dual-rear-wheel layout and a gooseneck hitch for its highest ratings.

For you, that means this truck makes the most sense if you need genuine heavy-duty strength, a broad spread of trims and body styles, and practical trailering features. Chevrolet also includes 12 cargo tie-downs, the Multi-Flex Tailgate across all trim levels, and a power up/down tailgate that is unique in its segment.

The market shows 28.9% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD reliable?

The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD is presented as a work-focused heavy-duty truck with a straightforward formula: big towing numbers, two V8 engine choices, and an Allison ten-speed automatic transmission. Chevrolet also equips it with practical trailering and cabin technology, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and SiriusXM satellite radio.

For long-term ownership, your main risk is less about complexity than about the costs that come with heavy-duty use, especially if you plan to tow often or choose the diesel setup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you know what you want.

• Deal availability: 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 159 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.70% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $66,961 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD's resale value?

The current average of $68,647 CAD sits slightly below last year's $71,282 CAD.

For a future seller, that points to a market that has eased a bit, so you may not see the same return you would have a year ago. If you buy well now, though, you can still position yourself reasonably against the current price range. The key is to avoid overpaying, because the softer trend gives buyers more negotiating room than before.

Should I buy a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.70% compared with last year.

The bottom line: If you want a heavy-duty truck with serious towing capability and a market that has cooled a bit, the 2023 is the primary year to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also keep an eye on nearby model years, but the 2023 gives you a solid balance of capability and current market value.
