• Powertrain: You get B5 and B6 mild-hybrid powertrains, each using a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a 48-volt electrical system and integrated starter generator. The B6 also adds an electric supercharger, and both versions use an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Which 2022 Volvo XC60 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volvo XC60 is offered in 6 trim levels: Momentum, R-Design, Inscription, and Polestar Engineered, plus the B5 Momentum and B6 Momentum variants.

Here's the short version:

• Momentum: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core XC60 experience with the new mild-hybrid setup and standard safety equipment. It makes sense if you want the XC60’s design, comfort, and technology without stretching for extras.
• R-Design: This trim adds a sportier look and feel, and the test car’s interior details gave it more visual flair. It suits you if you want a more expressive XC60 without moving into the top-end plug-in hybrid territory.
• Inscription: This is the best-value choice if you want the most upscale cabin treatment, thanks to Nappa leather upholstery and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It’s the trim to target if comfort and luxury matter most.
• Polestar Engineered: This is the performance-focused plug-in hybrid version, with more power, Öhlins adjustable dampers, Akebono brakes, and a front strut bar. Choose it only if you specifically want the most aggressive XC60 setup.

Volvo’s driver assistance system is available as part of an option package, so check whether a used example includes it.

• Inventory: There are 242 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.07% compared with last year.

What is the 2022 Volvo XC60's resale value?

The current average of $35,206 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,950 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who purchased when prices were higher. The current trend also indicates that demand is still active enough to support used-market turnover.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Volvo XC60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.07% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds new mild-hybrid powertrains, updated styling, and Android-based infotainment.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $31,289 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $35,206 CAD average.
• It feels just right, with luxury, safety, style, and value.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $40,826 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $35,206 CAD average.
• It improves the plug-in hybrid formula with better electric-only practicality.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around choice if you want the updated powertrains, refreshed tech, and strong safety reputation. If your priority is lower purchase price, the 2021 is the smarter value play; if you want the more developed plug-in hybrid direction, the 2023 is worth the extra money.
