Owners consistently praise its powerful engine, advanced features, reliability, solid feel, and smooth ride. That lines up well with its role as a full-size half-ton pickup that offers rear-wheel drive or available four-wheel drive, plus Double Cab and CrewMax configurations for different family and work needs.

• Powertrain: The standard i-Force twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 makes 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, while the i-Force Max hybrid adds an electric motor-generator for 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. Both use a 10-speed automatic, and the hybrid battery is a 1.87-kWh unit.

Which 2022 Toyota Tundra trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Tundra is offered in 5 trim levels: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, and TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the new-generation Tundra. You still get the standard safety suite and wireless smartphone integration, but the 8-inch screen and simpler cabin make it the most basic choice.
• SR5: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it sits in the core of the lineup and adds more of the features most buyers will actually use. Toyota also says SR5 is one of the core trims with more examples produced than others.
• Limited: This is the sweet spot if you want the more upscale feel, because it brings the 14-inch touchscreen and a more premium interior presentation. It is a strong pick if you want the truck to feel more modern without jumping to luxury pricing.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want a more luxurious Tundra with upper-grade tech and available head-up display. It is the right fit if comfort and convenience matter more than keeping the price down.
• TRD Pro: This is the flagship for buyers who want the most off-road-focused factory setup, including FOX shocks and aluminium skid plates. It is the trim to choose if you want the most capability and the most distinctive personality.

Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available on most SR and SR5 models and standard on all other trim levels.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Tundra?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 178 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.43% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $47,101 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota Tundra's resale value?

The current average of $47,101 CAD sits slightly below last year's $54,409 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help future resale if you buy at the right number today. If you overpay now, though, you may have less room to recover that cost later. The good news is that the Tundra’s reputation for durability and loyal ownership should continue to support demand among used-truck shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.69/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard on all models and includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, lane-tracing assist, automatic high beams, and road sign assist. The Star Safety System is also standard, along with eight airbags, LATCH connectors on the outboard second-row seats, child-protector rear door locks, a window-lockout control, a tyre-pressure monitor system, hill-start control, drive-start control, and active headrests for the driver and front passenger.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.43% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.69/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a full redesign, a new powertrain, and a major technology update.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $46,552 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $47,101 CAD average.
• It is an older but proven full-size pickup that still appeals to buyers who value straightforward towing and hauling.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $52,006 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $47,101 CAD average.
• It keeps the redesigned Tundra formula largely unchanged while preserving its modern tech and powertrain.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the right starting point if you want the redesigned Tundra experience without stepping up to the pricier 2023. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 can still make sense as a lower-cost alternative, but you give up the newer-generation truck’s major updates.
