What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Tundra?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SR starts with an 8-inch screen, while Limited and Platinum move up to a 14-inch touchscreen. Higher trims also bring more premium materials and amenities, and the TRD Pro stands out with its unique badging and technical camo details.
• Powertrain: You get a twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 on most trims, while the hybrid i-Force Max adds an electric motor for more output. Both use a 10-speed automatic, and the hybrid battery sits under the rear seat.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard and includes pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, lane-tracing assist, automatic high beams, and road sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on all but most SR and SR5 models.
• Infotainment: SR and SR5 use an 8-inch touchscreen, while Limited and above get a 14-inch screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and upper grades add Drive Connect and a Qi-compatible charge pad.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard V6 is rated at 12.2 L/100 km combined with 4WD, while the hybrid powertrain is also rated at 12.2 L/100 km combined.

Which 2022 Toyota Tundra trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Tundra is offered in 5 trim levels: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, and TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the entry point, and it makes the most sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the new-generation Tundra and can live with the simpler 8-inch screen.
• SR5: Toyota calls this one of its core trims, so it’s the best-value choice for many shoppers who want a more balanced mix of equipment and price.
• Limited: This is the trim to target if you want the 14-inch touchscreen and a more upscale cabin without jumping all the way to the top end.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want a more luxurious truck with the biggest tech upgrades, including the available head-up display.
• TRD Pro: This is the flagship for buyers who want the most rugged, fully equipped version, with FOX shocks and aluminium skid plates.

Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on all trims above most SR and SR5 models, so that’s worth factoring into your comparison.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices stay under pressure.
