What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Tundra?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SR and SR5 are the more straightforward trims, while Limited adds the 14-inch touchscreen and a more premium cabin feel. Platinum brings more luxury content, and TRD Pro is the flagship with retro-style badging, technical camo details, FOX shocks, and aluminium skid plates.
• Powertrain: You get a twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 in standard form, while the hybrid i-Force Max adds an electric motor-generator for more output. Both pair with a 10-speed automatic, and the truck’s chassis and suspension are tuned for smoother, more controlled driving than before.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard and includes pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, lane-tracing assist, automatic high beams, and road sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available on most SR and SR5 models and standard on all other trim levels.
• Infotainment: SR and SR5 use an 8-inch touchscreen, while Limited and above get a 14-inch screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on all models, and upper grades add Drive Connect, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, and a 10.1-inch head-up display on Platinum models.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard V6 is rated at 11.8 L/100 km combined in rear-wheel-drive form, 12.2 L/100 km combined with 4WD, and the hybrid powertrain is also rated at 12.2 L/100 km combined.

Which 2022 Toyota Tundra trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Tundra is offered in 5 trim levels: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, and TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the entry point if you want the new-generation Tundra at the lowest starting price, but it keeps the basics with the 8-inch screen and simpler cabin presentation. It makes sense if you care most about getting into the redesigned truck without paying for extras.
• SR5: This is the best-value trim for many buyers because it sits in the core of the lineup and is one of the trims Toyota expects to sell in higher numbers. It gives you a more complete everyday truck experience while staying below the luxury-focused grades.
• Limited: This is the trim to target if you want the 14-inch touchscreen and a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the top end. It is the sweet spot for shoppers who want the biggest tech upgrade and a more polished cabin.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want a more luxurious Tundra with the available 1794 package, head-up display content, and a stronger premium-truck vibe. It suits you best if comfort and features matter more than value.
• TRD Pro: This is the flagship for buyers who want the most off-road-focused factory setup, including FOX shocks and aluminium skid plates. It is the right pick if you want the most capability-oriented version and the most distinctive appearance.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard across the lineup, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on all trims except most SR and SR5 models, where it is part of a package.

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 175 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.89% compared with last year.

What is the 2022 Toyota Tundra's resale value?

The current average of $47,126 CAD sits slightly below last year's $54,099 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more selectively now, but it also means future sellers may face a market that is still adjusting to the new-generation truck. If demand stays steady, the Tundra’s reputation for durability and loyal ownership should help support values. The current price range also suggests there is still room for depreciation to normalise before resale strength fully settles in.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.69/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.69/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a full redesign, a modern twin-turbo powertrain, and a major technology upgrade.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $46,470 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $47,126 CAD average.
• It suits buyers who value a proven, simpler truck over newer tech.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $51,659 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $47,126 CAD average.
• It keeps the same modern generation while refining the formula further.

The bottom line: If you want the biggest leap in design, powertrain, and technology, the 2022 is the right starting point. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the better value play, while the 2023 makes sense if you are comfortable paying more for a newer example in the same generation.
