Used 2022 Toyota Tacoma for Sale nearDrumheller, AB

How much does the 2022 Toyota Tacoma cost?

Prices have softened 5.57% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 328 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma a good car?

Generally — you’re looking at a 4.4/5 user-rated truck with an expert score of 7.5/10. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, fuel economy, and off-road capability. They also like its resale value and its performance in rough terrain. In use, that lines up well with the Tacoma’s role as a commuter-friendly truck that can also handle camping trips, kayaking runs, mountain biking, and weekend hauling.

The trade-offs are familiar: the base engine is underwhelming, the back seat is cramped, and the ride quality is poor. That makes it a better fit if you value toughness and versatility more than refinement.

With 27.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still some worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to reliability, durability, and a truck that owners feel good about keeping for the long haul. The expert assessment also describes it as a supremely trusty and durable vehicle built for demanding use.

Toyota’s first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which helps with early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that age-related compromises in comfort and technology may matter more as the truck racks up kilometres.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Tacoma?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tacoma’s trim ladder starts with a well-equipped standard model, but the base setup still leaves you with a 7-inch touchscreen, a 4.2-inch colour display in the instrument panel, 16-inch steel wheels, and a manually sliding rear window. Moving up brings useful upgrades such as alloy wheels, heated front seats, an 8-inch touchscreen, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless device charging, leather seating, blind spot monitoring, and a power-sliding rear window or moonroof depending on trim.
• Powertrain: In Canada, you get a 3.5-litre V6 with 278 hp and standard 4WD, plus a six-speed automatic or six-speed manual. It can tow up to 2,948 kg when properly equipped, but the gearing and transmission can make acceleration feel less confident than you might expect.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense is standard, with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are optional, so check whether the truck you’re considering has them.
• Infotainment: The base system uses a 7-inch touchscreen, while all packages add an 8-inch touchscreen and SiriusXM satellite radio. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, and the layout is simple and easy to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The automatic returns 13.0 L/100 km in city driving, 10.5 on the highway, and 11.8 combined. With the manual, it uses 13.8 L/100 km in the city, 11.4 on the highway, and 12.7 combined.

Which 2022 Toyota Tacoma trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Tacoma is offered in 6 trim levels: standard/Trail, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Sport Premium, TRD Off-road, and TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

• standard/Trail: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Tacoma formula with standard Toyota Safety Sense, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the truck’s basic work-ready hardware. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup, but you’ll want to compare it carefully against the next trim up for added comfort and convenience.
• SR5: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, heated front seats, and an 8-inch touchscreen without pushing too far up the price ladder. If you want a more livable daily driver, this is the trim to focus on first.
• TRD Sport: This trim adds 17-inch alloy wheels, a TRD-tuned sport suspension, push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless device charging, and a power-sliding rear window. It suits you if you want a more polished and better-equipped Tacoma without going all-in on trail hardware.
• TRD Sport Premium: This version builds on the TRD Sport with more upscale equipment, making it the better pick if you want added comfort and convenience features alongside the sportier setup.
• TRD Off-road: This is the one to choose if trail use matters most. It gets all-terrain tyres, a more trail-oriented suspension with Bilstein shocks, a locking rear differential, and Multi-Terrain Select.
• TRD Pro: This is the most capable and most specialised version, with unique styling, underbody skid plates, upgraded LED fog lights, a TRD-tuned suspension, Crawl Control, and a multi-terrain monitor. It’s the right pick if off-road performance is your priority.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Tacoma?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 328 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.57% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $43,511 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

The current average of $43,511 CAD sits slightly below last year's $46,076 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future sellers may face a market that is less aggressive than it was a year ago. If prices stay near this level, resale gains are likely to depend more on condition, trim, and equipment than on broad market momentum. Well-kept trucks with desirable features should still hold attention, especially given the Tacoma’s reputation.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma safe?

The 2022 Tacoma earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side crash tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are optional, so you should confirm whether a used example has them.

The backup camera is standard, but the image is described as very grainy, so you’ll want to pay extra attention when reversing.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It blends commuter-friendly usability with strong off-road ability and modern safety tech.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $43,187 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $43,511 CAD average.
• It adds two special editions and standard dual-zone automatic climate control.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $48,195 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $43,511 CAD average.
• It leans harder into reliability and off-road appeal while remaining compact and familiar.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the sensible middle ground if you want the Tacoma’s core strengths without paying more for a newer model year. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2021 is the easier value play; if you want to spend more for a later-year example, the 2023 brings a stronger reputation but at a higher cost.
