Used 2022 Subaru WRX for Sale nearAbbotsford, BC

How much does the 2022 Subaru WRX cost?

Prices have softened 7.28% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 129 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2022 Subaru WRX a good car?

Yes — 4.9/5. The expert rating is 6.83/10, and the model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its thrilling performance, sporty features, and strong value. The all-wheel-drive setup, driving sophistication, and everyday versatility also come through clearly in the feedback.

That lines up well with the WRX’s role as a performance sedan that still works for daily commuting, especially if you want all-weather practicality without giving up enthusiast appeal. With 29.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2022 Subaru WRX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable and worth counting on, especially for buyers who want a sporty sedan they can live with every day. The expert assessment also highlights the WRX’s improved suspension tuning and more forgiving ride, which supports the sense that this generation is built to handle regular use well.

Subaru’s broader improvements to the platform and the car’s strong owner satisfaction suggest manageable long-term ownership risk for used buyers, provided you inspect any example carefully for signs of hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Subaru WRX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim is the most stripped-back version, while Sport and Sport-tech add more equipment and safety content. If you want the best value, the Sport trim stands out because it brings the stronger infotainment setup and more standard safety features without jumping all the way to the top grade.
• Powertrain: The WRX uses a 2.4-litre turbocharged Boxer four-cylinder with standard all-wheel drive. You can choose a six-speed manual or Subaru Performance Transmission CVT, and the manual is described as especially satisfying to drive.
• Safety package: EyeSight comes standard on CVT-equipped models and includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane-tracing assist, an electronic brake booster, and automatic steering assist. Manual models do not get EyeSight. Blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on Sport and Sport-tech trims, but not on the base trim.
• Infotainment: Sport-trim and higher models get an 11.6-inch tablet-style touchscreen. The system includes physical controls for climate, power, volume, tuning, and defrost functions, but Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration are not especially polished. Base trims use a dual 7-inch screen setup instead.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the manual at 12.3 L/100 km in city driving, 9.0 L/100 km on the highway, and 10.8 L/100 km combined. The CVT is rated at 12.7 L/100 km city, 9.4 L/100 km highway, and 11.2 L/100 km combined.

Which 2022 Subaru WRX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Subaru WRX is offered in 3 trim levels: base, Sport, and Sport-tech.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the entry point, but it misses out on the larger 11.6-inch touchscreen and the extra safety features that come with higher trims. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable with a simpler setup.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim. It adds the 11.6-inch touchscreen, keeps the WRX’s core performance character intact, and brings the standard blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert that the base trim lacks.
• Sport-tech: This is the most fully equipped version, and it suits you if you want the most complete WRX experience. It builds on Sport with the top-end equipment set and is the trim to consider if you want the most features and are willing to pay for them.

For safety, the CVT-equipped WRX gets Subaru’s EyeSight suite, while manual models do not.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Subaru WRX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough price movement to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 129 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.28% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $28,737 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Subaru WRX's resale value?

The current average of $29,492 CAD sits slightly below last year's $31,808 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the WRX has become a bit more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market. If prices continue to normalise, resale values could stay under pressure unless demand remains strong for manual-transmission performance sedans.

The WRX’s appeal still helps support its used-market position, especially because it combines performance with all-weather practicality. Strong owner satisfaction can also help keep buyer interest steady over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Subaru WRX safe?

The 2022 Subaru WRX earns Top Safety Pick recognition from IIHS, and it comes with standard seven-airbag protection, including a driver’s-side knee airbag.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight suite is standard on CVT-equipped models and includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane-tracing assist, an electronic brake booster, and automatic steering assist. On manual models, EyeSight is not available, which is an important gap to keep in mind if safety tech matters to you.

Blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on Sport and Sport-tech trims, but not on the base trim. The newer Subaru Global Platform also improves crash energy absorption compared with the previous architecture.

Should I buy a 2022 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.28% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings a more polished powertrain, suspension, and technology package.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $31,223 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $29,492 CAD average.
• No changes were reported for 2023.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the better value if you want the newest WRX at a lower average price and with strong owner satisfaction. If you are price-sensitive, the 2022 is the smarter path; if you simply want the latest model-year badge and are comfortable paying more, the 2023 remains a straightforward alternative.
