How much does the 2020 Subaru WRX cost?

Is the 2020 Subaru WRX a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Subaru WRX earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the turbo power, handling, and comfort, especially for daily driving. The WRX also stands out for its fun-to-drive character, manual transmission option, and standard all-wheel drive, which make it appealing if you want an enthusiast car that still works year-round. The main trade-offs are outdated technology and some interior quality and tyre noise complaints at higher speeds.

With 36.4% of listings priced as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Subaru WRX reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in everyday use, with many drivers describing it as a vehicle they enjoy living with over time. The expert assessment also highlights the WRX’s strong mechanical character and the way its drivetrain and chassis deliver consistent performance.

The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is that the car’s performance focus can come with higher wear-and-tear expectations than a more ordinary commuter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Subaru WRX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim gives you the essentials, including heated front seats, automatic climate control, a 6.5-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a manual transmission. Higher trims add features such as a larger touchscreen, leather upholstery, power adjustment, Brembo brakes, Recaro front seats, and upgraded audio, so you should decide early whether you want the simplest enthusiast setup or a better-equipped daily driver.
• Powertrain: You get a turbocharged and intercooled 2.0-litre boxer-four with 268 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual is standard, while a CVT is available on some trims, and the manual setup is the one that best matches the car’s character.
• Safety package: EyeSight is the named driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. It is optional on the WRX, so make sure the car you are considering actually has it.
• Infotainment: The WRX uses a 6.5-inch touchscreen on the base trim and a 7-inch touchscreen on higher trims. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and the system is straightforward to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The manual-equipped WRX returns 11.3 L/100 km in the city, 8.5 on the highway, and 10.1 combined. The CVT-equipped WRX returns 12.9 L/100 km city, 9.7 highway, and 11.5 combined.

Which 2020 Subaru WRX trim should I buy?

The 2020 Subaru WRX is offered in 4 trim levels: base, Sport, Sport-tech, and Sport-tech RS.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the best-value choice if you want the WRX experience without paying for extras you may not need. You still get the manual transmission, all-wheel drive, heated front seats, automatic climate control, and the core infotainment setup with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Sport: This trim adds the available CVT, a 10-way power driver’s seat, lighting upgrades, a trunk lip spoiler, and EyeSight. It makes sense if you want more convenience and driver-assistance features, but it is less focused than the base car.
• Sport-tech: This is the sweet spot for many buyers because it adds 18-inch wheels, leather upholstery, and the larger 7-inch touchscreen. If you want a more polished daily driver without jumping to the top trim, this is the one to target.
• Sport-tech RS: Choose this if you want the most aggressive factory setup, with Brembo brakes, Recaro front seats, push-button start, and the 9-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.

EyeSight is optional on the WRX, so verify whether the specific car you are shopping has it.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Subaru WRX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 88 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.18% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $21,958 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Subaru WRX's resale value?

The current average of $21,958 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,003 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the softer pricing means you should expect competition from similarly priced examples unless your car is especially clean, well maintained, or well equipped.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Subaru WRX safe?

The Subaru WRX earns top marks in testing by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and is even a 2020 IIHS Top Safety Pick. It also earned a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The WRX comes standard with a full array of front- and side-impact airbags, traction control, and a tire-pressure monitoring system. EyeSight is available and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and reverse automatic emergency braking are also available.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.18% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 WRX combines rally-bred performance with everyday usability, standard all-wheel drive, and a manual transmission option.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of enthusiast appeal and daily-driver practicality, the 2020 WRX is an easy year to recommend. If your priority is stretching your budget, the softer pricing and decent deal availability make this a sensible year to shop carefully and focus on condition, equipment, and maintenance history.
