Is the 2021 Subaru WRX a good car?

Yes — the 4.7/5 user rating points to strong owner approval, and the WRX’s appeal is clear if you want a practical sports sedan with rally roots, standard all-wheel drive, and a turbocharged Boxer engine. It also suits you if you want an enthusiast-focused car that still works as a daily driver, with available features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and higher-trim driver aids. The market shows 37.2% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Subaru WRX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The WRX’s standard all-wheel drive, stiffer chassis, and established turbocharged powertrain support its reputation as a durable performance sedan. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the car’s enthusiast focus can make condition, maintenance history, and wear items especially important to check.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Subaru WRX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be patient and still find a solid example.

• Deal availability: 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 94 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.85% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $25,399 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Subaru WRX's resale value?

The current average of $25,401 CAD sits slightly below last year's $27,270 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable level, but it also means future resale may depend more on how well the car is maintained and presented. If you keep mileage reasonable and service records complete, you should be in a better position when it comes time to sell. Demand should remain supported by the WRX’s enthusiast appeal and standard all-wheel drive.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $21,958 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $25,401 CAD average.
• It blends everyday usability with standard all-wheel drive and a manual option.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $28,254 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $25,401 CAD average.
• It adds an evolutionary update with improved powertrain, suspension, and technology.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the best all-around pick if you want the current-year balance of price, satisfaction, and availability. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2020 is the value play; if you want the newer update and can stretch your budget, the 2022 is the upgrade path.
