What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Pathfinder?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S, SV, SL, and Platinum trims differ most clearly in seating, materials, and convenience features. Base trims use cloth upholstery and eight-passenger seating, while SL and Platinum add semi-aniline leather-appointed seats. Platinum also gets second-row captain’s chairs, reducing seating to seven, and upper trims add features like a surround-view monitor.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-litre V6 with 284 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. In Canada, all-wheel drive is standard, and the SUV includes hill descent control and seven drive and terrain modes.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, high-beam assist, rear automatic braking, driver alertness monitor, rear door alert, and forward-collision warning. Upper trims add a surround-view monitor, and Platinum gets an extra airbag.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and a 7-inch digital driver-information display. Upper trims upgrade to a 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, door-to-door connected navigation, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel on Platinum.
• Fuel efficiency: Fuel-consumption figures are not stated in the available data.

Which 2022 Nissan Pathfinder trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SL, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, but it still gives you standard AWD, the V6, the 8-inch touchscreen, and Nissan Safety Shield 360. It makes sense if you want the lowest-priced way into the Pathfinder without giving up the core mechanical and safety equipment.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds to the standard equipment without pushing you into the highest price brackets. It also keeps the Pathfinder’s practical family focus intact while giving you more convenience than the S.
• SL: This trim is the step up if you want a more upscale feel, with semi-aniline leather-appointed seats and the option of the Premium package. It suits you if you want a more premium cabin and more available tech.
• Platinum: This is the most luxurious version, with standard second-row captain’s chairs, quilted leather-appointed seating, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, head-up display, and the most advanced convenience features. It’s the one to choose if you want the most fully equipped Pathfinder.

Upper trims add a surround-view monitor, while Platinum gets the most safety and convenience hardware.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Pathfinder?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 191 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.87% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $33,335 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder's resale value?

The current average of $33,335 CAD sits slightly below last year's $38,260 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the Pathfinder more attractive to used buyers today. For a future seller, it also means you may need to price competitively if you want to move the vehicle quickly.

The good news is that strong owner satisfaction can help support demand over time. A model with a reputation for comfort, space, and value tends to stay appealing to shoppers looking for a practical three-row SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder safe?

The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder comes standard with Nissan Safety Shield 360, which includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, high-beam assist, rear automatic braking, driver alertness monitor, rear door alert, and forward-collision warning.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Upper trims get a surround-view monitor, and Platinum adds an extra airbag. The main caveat is that neither IIHS nor NHTSA crash-tested this model year in the available data, so there are no published crash-test ratings to cite here.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Pathfinder or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings back a rugged look and strong capability focus while keeping family-friendly practicality.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $37,759 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $33,335 CAD average.
• It adds the Rock Creek edition, a more rugged version of the Pathfinder.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2022 is the smarter buy because prices are softer and owner satisfaction is strong. If you’re willing to pay more for the added Rock Creek option and a newer model year, the 2023 is worth a look.
