It also brings a long list of tech and safety features, which makes it appealing if you want a family hauler that feels well equipped without needing to move to the top trim. What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Pathfinder?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S, SV, SL, and Platinum trims differ most in comfort and convenience. Base models get cloth upholstery and an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, while higher trims add semi-aniline leather-appointed seating, a panoramic moonroof, a roof rack, a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument panel, and a head-up display.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-litre V6 with 284 horsepower paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and standard AWD in Canada. The transmission is smooth, but it can struggle to find the right gear at speed.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, high-beam assist, rear automatic braking, driver alertness monitor, rear door alert, and forward-collision warning. Upper trims add a surround-view monitor, and the Platinum gets an extra airbag.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes an 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and a 7-inch digital driver-information display. Upper trims add a 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, door-to-door connected navigation, and a 13-speaker Bose audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: Fuel-consumption figures are not published in the provided data.

Which 2022 Nissan Pathfinder trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SL, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value-focused starting point if you want standard AWD, the V6, and the full Safety Shield 360 suite without stretching your budget. It gives you the core Pathfinder experience and the strongest entry point for shoppers who care most about price.
• SV: This is the best-value trim if you want more convenience without jumping too far up the price ladder. It adds useful equipment over the S and also gets the panoramic moonroof and roof rack that are available on lower trims only from this point up.
• SL: This is the trim to target if you want a more upscale cabin. It brings semi-aniline leather-appointed seating and can be paired with the optional Premium package for more luxury and tech.
• Platinum: This is the most premium Pathfinder, with standard second-row captain’s chairs, a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument panel, a head-up display, standard surround-view monitor, and the most airbags.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, so your trim choice mostly comes down to how much comfort, tech, and seating flexibility you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Pathfinder?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 200 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.87% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $33,266 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder's resale value?

The current average of $33,266 CAD sits slightly below last year's $38,181 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more attractive level today, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment if the market stays loose. If you own one for several years, the current discount could work in your favour on the purchase side, but resale gains may be more modest than they were a year ago. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder safe?

The 2022 Pathfinder was not crash-tested by IIHS or NHTSA in the provided data.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard on every Pathfinder, and it includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, high-beam assist, rear automatic braking, driver alertness monitor, rear door alert, and forward-collision warning. A rearview camera is standard, upper trims get a surround-view monitor, and the Platinum adds an extra airbag.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Pathfinder or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a rugged redesign, standard AWD, and a strong safety-tech package.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $37,712 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $33,266 CAD average.
• It adds the Rock Creek edition for buyers who want a tougher-looking version.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the better pick if you want the strongest value and a well-equipped Pathfinder at a lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for the Rock Creek edition and a newer model year, the 2023 is the better alternative.

How does the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder compare to the 2022 Toyota Highlander?

Our experts score the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder 8.3/10 and the 2022 Toyota Highlander 8.2/10. The Pathfinder gives you a lower average used price and a stronger good-and-great-deal share, which makes it the more value-oriented choice. The Highlander counters with slightly more horsepower and a higher average used price, so it may appeal if you’re prioritizing output over affordability. If you want the better bargain, the Pathfinder is the smarter starting point.
