What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Pathfinder?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S, SV, SL, and Platinum trims differ most in comfort and convenience. Base models get cloth upholstery and eight-passenger seating, while higher trims add semi-aniline leather-appointed seats, a panoramic moonroof, roof rack, and, on Platinum, second-row captain’s chairs and a more upscale cabin.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-litre V6 with 284 horsepower and a 9-speed automatic transmission. In Canada, AWD is standard, and the setup includes hill descent control and seven drive and terrain modes.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, high-beam assist, rear automatic braking, driver alertness monitor, rear door alert, and forward-collision warning. Upper trims add a surround-view monitor.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and a 7-inch digital driver-information display. Higher trims add a 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, connected navigation, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel on Platinum.
• Fuel efficiency: Fuel-consumption figures are not stated in the provided data.

Which 2022 Nissan Pathfinder trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SL, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, but it still gives you standard AWD, the V6, and Nissan Safety Shield 360. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Pathfinder without giving up the core capability and safety equipment.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more convenience while keeping the Pathfinder’s core strengths intact. It also gets the panoramic moonroof and roof rack that are available on higher-spec versions.
• SL: This trim is the step up if you want a more upscale feel, with semi-aniline leather-appointed seats and the option of the Premium package. It suits you if cabin comfort matters more than keeping the price down.
• Platinum: This is the most luxurious version, with standard second-row captain’s chairs, a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument panel, a head-up display, and the most premium seating treatment. It is the right pick if you want the most features and the most refined cabin.

Safety Shield 360 is standard across the lineup, while upper trims add a surround-view monitor.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Pathfinder?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 200 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.01% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $33,119 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder's resale value?

The current average of $33,119 CAD sits slightly below last year's $38,074 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can make it harder for a future seller to command top dollar immediately. If you buy at today’s average or below, you may have less downside risk than someone who bought when prices were higher. Strong demand for well-equipped, family-friendly SUVs can still support resale, especially when the vehicle has a good reputation with owners.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder safe?

The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard, and it includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, high-beam assist, rear automatic braking, driver alertness monitor, rear door alert, and forward-collision warning. A rearview camera is standard, and upper trims add a surround-view monitor. Ten airbags are standard, while Platinum gets 11.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Pathfinder or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings back rugged styling and strong capability with a broad safety-tech package.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $37,552 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $33,119 CAD average.
• It adds the Rock Creek edition for buyers who want a tougher-looking version.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the better value if you want the Pathfinder’s core strengths at a lower price. If you are willing to spend more for the Rock Creek edition and a newer model year, the 2023 is the more distinctive choice.

How does the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder compare to the 2022 Toyota Highlander?

Our experts score the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder 8.3/10 and the 2022 Toyota Highlander 8.2/10. The Pathfinder is the better value on the used market, with a much lower average price and a higher share of good or great deals.
