Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The IS 500 F Sport Performance adds a more dramatic V8-powered character, exclusive 19-inch lighter-weight alloy wheels, a raised hood, quad exhaust outlets, and a stealthier look than lesser IS models.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Lexus IS?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the best-priced examples.

• Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 61 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.73% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $38,861 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Lexus IS's resale value?

The current average of $40,289 CAD sits slightly below last year's $43,195 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour if you're buying now, but it also means a future seller may face a more competitive resale environment if market conditions stay similar. The current range suggests there is still healthy demand, but not enough to push prices sharply higher.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Lexus IS safe?

The 2022 Lexus IS earns the highest overall rating of “Top Safety Pick+” from IIHS and an overall rating of five stars from NHTSA. It also earns a high five-star rating for rollover resistance, while receiving a four-star frontal-impact collision rating for the driver and front passenger.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 is standard on all 2022 IS models. The package includes driving assistance, collision warning and emergency braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assistance, blind spot monitoring, and collision-prevention technologies.

There are some caveats to keep in mind: the Curve Speed Reduction function can react too aggressively on tighter curves, lane-centring can be confused by some ramps, and low-speed automatic braking can be intrusive in heavy city traffic.

Should I buy a 2022 Lexus IS or consider a different year?

Choose the 2022 if:

• 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.73% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds a significant performance boost and the new IS 500 F Sport Performance.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $38,144 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $40,289 CAD average.
• It marks the start of the new generation and targets enthusiast drivers with a sharper, more driver-oriented feel.

The bottom line: Choose the 2022 if you want the stronger performance story and better market leverage from softer pricing. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the value-minded alternative and still delivers the core enthusiast-focused character.
