Used 2022 Land Rover Defender for Sale nearRichmond, BC

How much does the 2022 Land Rover Defender cost?

Prices have softened 15.01% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 117 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Land Rover Defender a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Land Rover Defender earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Form and function.

It stands out by blending rugged off-road character with modern technology and better road manners, while still offering two-door 90 and four-door 110 body styles. The trade-offs are clear: the touchscreen response is sluggish, and advanced safety features are not standard.

For shoppers who want a distinctive SUV that feels capable and contemporary, it makes a strong case. With 31.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market offers some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Land Rover Defender reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Defender is built around a rugged identity, but it also brings modern equipment and a four-year, 80,000-kilometre warranty. Its standard four-wheel drive system with a two-speed transfer case, plus its off-road hardware and comfortable road manners, point to a vehicle designed for hard use.

The 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder and 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six are described as refined and unintrusive, which is a good sign for everyday dependability. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a complex, capability-focused SUV can be costly to keep in top shape if you buy one that has been neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Land Rover Defender?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Defender’s base model is less richly equipped than higher trims, and advanced safety features are not standard. You should pay close attention to whether the truck you’re considering includes the equipment you want rather than assuming it comes on every version.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six mild hybrid, or a 5.0-litre supercharged V8. The four-cylinder and six-cylinder are adequate, while the V8 adds serious performance but also brings thirstier fuel use.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist tech includes lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, traffic-sign recognition with speed-limit adapter, and blind-spot monitoring. Adaptive cruise control is optional.
• Infotainment: The standard Pivi Pro system includes a 10-inch central touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is standard on every trim level except the base model, and an 11.4-inch touchscreen is available for 2022.
• Fuel efficiency: The base four-cylinder Defender 90 is rated at 12.3 L/100 km combined, while the 110 is rated at 13.0 L/100 km combined. The six-cylinder mild hybrid is rated at 12.3 L/100 km combined in both body styles, and V8 models are rated at 14.3 L/100 km combined for the 90 and 14.7 L/100 km combined for the 110.

Which 2022 Land Rover Defender trim should I buy?

The 2022 Land Rover Defender is offered in 3 trim levels: Defender 90, Defender 110, and Defender 90 V8.

Here's the short version:

• Defender 90: This is the most affordable way into the lineup and suits you if you want the Defender’s core rugged character in a more compact body. It gives you the standard off-road hardware and the same distinctive design, but you should be aware that some equipment is reserved for higher trims.
• Defender 110: This is the better all-round choice if you want more practicality and everyday usability. It keeps the Defender’s capability and modern tech while giving you the more useful four-door layout.
• Defender 90 V8: This is the performance-focused choice, with the 518 hp V8 and extra hardware that makes it the most dramatic Defender to drive. It also gets nearly every optional feature from the lower trims, so it’s the one to consider if you want the most complete package.

The safety package is not especially generous on lower trims, so check carefully for the driver-assist features you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Land Rover Defender?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 117 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.01% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $55,956 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Land Rover Defender's resale value?

The current average of $56,230 CAD sits slightly below last year's $66,164 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may face more price pressure if values continue to soften. If you buy now, you may be entering at a better point in the cycle than owners who purchased a year ago. For resale, the Defender’s distinctive image and strong demand from shoppers who want capability and style should help support interest over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Land Rover Defender safe?

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assist tech includes lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, traffic-sign recognition with speed-limit adapter, and blind-spot monitoring. Adaptive cruise control is optional, so you may need to shop carefully if you want a fuller safety package.

The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, which is worth keeping in mind if you want the most complete driver-assistance setup.

Should I buy a 2022 Land Rover Defender or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds a new optional 11.4-inch touchscreen, standard wireless phone charging, and a V8 powertrain option.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $61,587 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $56,230 CAD average.
• It adds an extended-length body for more practicality.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2022 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong equipment and broad appeal. If you need more space and can spend more, the 2023 is the better fit.
