Used 2022 Land Rover Defender for Sale nearOttawa, ON

How much does the 2022 Land Rover Defender cost?

Prices have softened 14.14% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 105 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Land Rover Defender a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Land Rover Defender earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Form and function.

It stands out by blending traditional off-road capability with modern technology and road manners, while keeping a rugged focus rather than leaning fully into luxury. The two-door 90 and four-door 110 body styles give you a choice between a more compact layout and a more practical one.

Trade-offs: the touchscreen response is sluggish, and advanced safety features are not standard.

With 39.0% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Land Rover Defender reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Defender is presented as a rugged, capable SUV that still feels modern enough for everyday use, and its expert assessment supports that balance. Its powertrains and chassis tuning are described as refined and unintrusive in normal driving, which is a good sign for day-to-day dependability.

The performance content also points to a well-developed mechanical package, with standard 4WD and a two-speed transfer case. Land Rover’s four-year, 80,000-kilometre warranty and roadside assistance plan help reduce early ownership risk.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a complex, capability-focused SUV can be costly to keep in top shape if previous maintenance was neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Land Rover Defender?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model is the least equipped, while higher trims add more of the Defender’s desirable features. The standard setup leaves some advanced driver-assistance equipment off the list, so you should check carefully for the features you want.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six mild hybrid, or a new 5.0-litre supercharged V8. The V8 brings the biggest performance jump, while the four-cylinder and six-cylinder are described as adequate.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist tech includes lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, traffic-sign recognition with speed-limit adapter, and blind-spot monitoring. Adaptive cruise control is optional.
• Infotainment: The standard Pivi Pro system includes a 10-inch central touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is standard on every trim level except the base model, and an 11.4-inch touchscreen is newly available.
• Fuel efficiency: The base four-cylinder Defender 90 is rated at 12.3 L/100 km combined, the Defender 110 at 13.0 L/100 km combined, and the six-cylinder mild hybrid at 12.3 L/100 km combined in both body styles. The V8 is thirstier at 14.3 L/100 km combined in the 90 and 14.7 L/100 km combined in the 110.

Which 2022 Land Rover Defender trim should I buy?

The 2022 Land Rover Defender is offered in 3 trim levels: 90, 110, and X-Dynamic SE.

Here's the short version:

• 90: This is the most compact and least expensive way into the Defender lineup, and it suits you if you want the classic two-door format and the strongest off-road personality in a smaller footprint.
• 110: This is the best-value choice for most buyers because it adds the more practical four-door layout and broader everyday usefulness without changing the Defender’s core character.
• X-Dynamic SE: This trim is the step-up choice if you want a more equipped Defender and are willing to pay for extra content beyond the base setup.

The safety package is not fully loaded on lower trims, so check carefully for the driver-assistance features you want before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Land Rover Defender?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 39.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 105 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.14% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $56,197 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Land Rover Defender's resale value?

The current average of $56,197 CAD sits slightly below last year's $65,453 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the Defender more attractive to buyers now but less favourable for sellers trying to maximise return. If you own one and plan to sell later, the current softness means your timing matters more than it would in a rising market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Land Rover Defender safe?

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assist tech includes lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, traffic-sign recognition with speed-limit adapter, and blind-spot monitoring. Adaptive cruise control is optional, so you should verify whether a used example has it if that matters to you.

The safety content also notes that advanced safety features are not standard, which is the main caveat to keep in mind when shopping this model year.

Should I buy a 2022 Land Rover Defender or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 39.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.14% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a new optional 11.4-inch touchscreen and a V8 powertrain option.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $62,076 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $56,197 CAD average.
• It adds the extended-length Defender 130 for more practicality.

The bottom line: If you want the better value and are happy with the 2022’s core Defender formula, this year is the smarter buy. If you need more space and can stretch your budget, the 2023 is the better path.
