Used 2022 Land Rover Defender for Sale nearBrantford, ON

How much does the 2022 Land Rover Defender cost?

Prices have softened 14.61% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 109 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2022 Land Rover Defender a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Land Rover Defender earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Form and function.

It stands out by blending traditional off-road capability with modern technology and road manners, while keeping a rugged character rather than leaning fully into luxury. The two-door 90 and four-door 110 body styles give you a choice between a more compact layout and a more practical one.

The main trade-offs are a sluggish touchscreen response and advanced safety features that are not standard. Fuel economy is also a weak point, especially if you choose the V8.

Only 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is somewhat selective rather than flooded with bargains.

Is the 2022 Land Rover Defender reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Defender’s rugged design and modern cabin layout suggest it is built to handle both daily use and harder-duty driving. Its standard four-wheel drive system with a two-speed transfer case, plus the brand’s off-road hardware, points to a vehicle engineered for demanding conditions.

The performance setup is also straightforward and robust, with a ZF eight-speed automatic and multiple powertrain choices. Land Rover’s four-year, 80,000-kilometre warranty and roadside assistance plan add some ownership reassurance.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a capable, feature-rich SUV like this can be costly to keep if you want to maintain its equipment and performance at a high level.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Land Rover Defender?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Defender’s rugged styling, exposed metal details, and comfortable driving position are part of its appeal, but the base model misses some equipment that appears on higher trims. In particular, the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is standard on every trim level except the base model, so you should check whether the trim you’re considering includes the features you want.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six mild-hybrid, or the new 5.0-litre supercharged V8. The four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines are adequate, while the V8 adds a major performance boost and unique tuning.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist tech includes lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, traffic-sign recognition with speed-limit adapter, and blind-spot monitoring. Adaptive cruise control is optional, so confirm whether the truck you’re looking at has it.
• Infotainment: The standard Pivi Pro system includes a 10-inch central touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. A new optional 11.4-inch touchscreen is available, and the interface is generally easy to use, though the screen can be slow to respond.
• Fuel efficiency: The base four-cylinder Defender 90 is rated at 12.3 L/100 km combined, while the Defender 110 is rated at 13.0 L/100 km combined. The six-cylinder mild hybrid is also rated at 12.3 L/100 km combined, and the V8 rises to 14.3 L/100 km combined in the 90 and 14.7 L/100 km combined in the 110.

Which 2022 Land Rover Defender trim should I buy?

The 2022 Land Rover Defender is offered in 3 trim levels: Defender 90, Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE, Defender 90 V8.

Here's the short version:

• Defender 90: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Defender’s core rugged character, standard 4WD, and the basic tech and safety setup. It makes sense if you want the most affordable way into the lineup.
• Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE: This trim adds more equipment and is the best-value choice if you want a better-balanced mix of features without jumping to the V8. It should suit you if you want more content while staying away from the highest-priced version.
• Defender 90 V8: This is the performance-focused choice, with the 5.0-litre supercharged V8, unique tuning, and nearly every optional feature from lower trims. It suits you if you want the strongest performance and the most complete equipment list.

Adaptive cruise control remains optional, so check the specific vehicle’s equipment list if that matters to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Land Rover Defender?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 109 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.61% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $55,911 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Land Rover Defender's resale value?

The current average of $55,919 CAD sits slightly below last year's $65,486 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can make the Defender easier to purchase now than it was a year ago. For a future seller, it also means you should expect pricing pressure if the market stays soft.

The Defender’s distinctive styling, strong capability, and broad appeal should help it remain desirable. Well-equipped examples with the right trim and powertrain are likely to hold attention better than stripped-down versions.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Land Rover Defender safe?

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assist tech includes lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, traffic-sign recognition with speed-limit adapter, and blind-spot monitoring. Adaptive cruise control is optional, so some examples will be better equipped than others.

One important caveat is that the Defender does not have published IIHS or NHTSA safety ratings in the available data. That means you should pay close attention to the actual safety equipment on the specific vehicle you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2022 Land Rover Defender or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a new optional 11.4-inch touchscreen and a V8 powertrain option.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $62,169 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $55,919 CAD average.
• It adds the extended Defender 130 body style.

The bottom line: Choose the 2022 if you want the better value and the year’s key updates without paying more for the next model year. Consider the 2023 if you want the added practicality of the extended body and are willing to spend more.
