How much does the 2022 Hyundai Tucson cost?

Prices have softened 12.70% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 482 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Hyundai Tucson earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, excellent safety features, stylish design, comfort, and spacious interior. That lines up well with the Tucson’s role as a practical compact SUV for families who want everyday usability, a high-tech cabin, and a comfortable ride without moving up to a larger vehicle. Market-wise, 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers saying they’re extremely satisfied with their decision to buy one. The Tucson’s smooth ride and strong comfort reputation also support the sense that it’s a vehicle you can count on day to day. Hyundai’s 5-year/100,000-kilometre limited warranty adds another layer of reassurance for used buyers.

For a used buyer, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright reliability and more about whether the specific vehicle has the equipment and condition you want, since some owners wish for more cargo space or larger cupholders.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model gets the essentials, but higher grades add roof rails, heated outside mirrors, blind-spot monitoring indicators and turn signals, front aero wipers, keyless entry, and a sunroof with the Trend Package. If you want a more upscale feel, look for the trims with leather-trimmed seats, premium fascias, skid plates, gloss black pillars, and a panoramic sunroof.
• Powertrain: The gas model uses a 2.5-litre direct-injected four-cylinder with an eight-speed automatic. It’s described as capable and competent, but not especially exciting. The hybrid adds a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder and electric motor, and it brings more power and stronger efficiency.
• Safety package: Hyundai SmartSense includes standard forward collision-avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, a driver attention monitor, and rear occupant alert. Cyclist and pedestrian detection are added at the Preferred grade, and you can also find blind-spot warning with collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, a surround-view camera system, and remote parking assist.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, HD Radio, and two USB ports. Higher trims add satellite radio, Blue Link mobile app compatibility, rear USB outlets, rear air vents, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an available 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive gas model is rated at 9.1 L/100 km in the city, 7.1 on the highway, and 8.2 combined. With all-wheel drive, it rises to 9.9 city, 8.0 highway, and 9.0 combined. The hybrid is rated at 6.3 city, 6.6 highway, and 6.4 combined.

Which 2022 Hyundai Tucson trim should I buy?

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is offered in 4 trim levels: Essential, Preferred, N Line, and Luxury.

Here's the short version:

• Essential: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the redesigned Tucson and are comfortable with the most basic equipment.
• Preferred: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds useful everyday upgrades like blind-spot-related features, keyless entry, front aero wipers, rear air vents, satellite radio, Blue Link, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
• N Line: Choose this if you want the sportier appearance and the more distinctive wheel design, along with sport combination seats and the more aggressive look.
• Luxury: This is the trim to target if you want the most upscale feel, including the larger 19-inch wheels and the richer feature set associated with the top end of the lineup.

The safety package is especially comprehensive, and the Preferred grade is the key trim where cyclist and pedestrian detection is added.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 482 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.70% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,730 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson's resale value?

The current average of $22,730 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,035 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Tucson is currently more buyer-friendly than it was a year ago, which can be a challenge if you’re planning to sell soon. If you own one, the current market may mean you need to price competitively to stand out, especially against the fairly healthy supply of listings. On the other hand, the Tucson’s broad appeal as a comfortable, practical compact SUV should help it remain attractive to used shoppers over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson safe?

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson has not been tested and rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) nor the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Hyundai SmartSense is the Tucson’s driver-assistance suite, and it includes standard forward collision-avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, a driver attention monitor, and rear occupant alert. Cyclist and pedestrian detection are added at the Preferred grade, and the available safety list also includes blind-spot warning with collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance assist, safe exit warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, a surround-view camera system, parking collision avoidance assist, and remote parking assist.

Should I buy a 2022 Hyundai Tucson or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.70% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesigned 2022 model brings a high-tech cabin, a comfortable ride, and a more spacious interior than the previous generation.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Tucson and value comfort, space, and a strong feature set, the 2022 is the right place to start. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare it with nearby model years to see whether a slightly older Tucson gives you similar practicality for less money.
