What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Odyssey?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Touring trim adds the most visible upgrades, including dark grey 19-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, CabinWatch, CabinTalk, a rear entertainment system, an 11-speaker premium audio system, and a wireless charging pad. Lower trims may leave you wanting more convenience features, especially if you value family-friendly equipment.
• Powertrain: Every Odyssey uses a 3.5-litre V6 with a 10-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. It is tuned for smooth, responsive driving rather than electrified efficiency, and there is no all-wheel-drive option.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rear-seat reminder. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are reserved for Touring.
• Infotainment: Starting with EX-L Navi, you get an 8-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Navigation is included on EX-L Navi and Touring, while Touring adds HondaLink connected services with WiFi hotspot access and a 10.2-inch rear entertainment screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The Odyssey carries a Natural Resources Canada estimate of 10.6 L/100 km in combined driving, and the expert test drive returned 10.4 L/100 km.

Which 2022 Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?

The 2022 Honda Odyssey is offered in 3 trim levels: EX-L Navi, EX-L Res, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• EX-L Navi: This is the entry point if you want the core Odyssey experience with an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, Bluetooth, and built-in navigation. It gives you the essentials without pushing you into the pricier family-tech extras.
• EX-L Res: This trim is the better choice if you want rear-seat entertainment without stepping all the way up to Touring. It suits families who expect passengers in the back and want more long-trip convenience.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim if you want the fullest feature set. It adds CabinWatch, CabinTalk, the rear entertainment system, HondaLink connected services, wireless charging, an 11-speaker audio system, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are only included on Touring.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Odyssey?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 138 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.91% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $37,085 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Honda Odyssey's resale value?

The current average of $37,085 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,164 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour if you buy now, but it also means future resale values may stay under pressure if the market remains well supplied. For a seller, the current trend suggests you may need to price competitively to move the vehicle quickly.

Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand over time, especially for a family vehicle that buyers trust for comfort and practicality. If the Odyssey continues to be seen as a dependable, easy-to-live-with minivan, that should help it hold appeal in the used market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Honda Odyssey safe?

The 2022 Honda Odyssey earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on every Odyssey and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rear-seat reminder system. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are only available on Touring.

The main caveat is that Honda Sensing can feel abrupt and less refined than you might expect, and the blind-spot warning light placement is not ideal. That means you should treat the driver-assistance tech as a helpful layer of protection, not a substitute for attentive driving.

Should I buy a 2022 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the Odyssey’s enjoyable driving character while staying true to the familiar formula.

Consider the 2021 if:

• It is a refreshed, family-focused minivan with improved safety, upgraded technology, and enhanced utility.

The bottom line: The 2022 is a sensible pick if you want the Odyssey’s core strengths and a market that is leaning in your favour on price. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2021 is worth a look for its similar family-first appeal and potentially different value proposition.
