Used 2022 GMC Terrain for Sale nearAjax, ON

How much does the 2022 GMC Terrain cost?

Prices have softened 14.12% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 355 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 GMC Terrain a good car?

Yes — the 2022 GMC Terrain earns a 4.83/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise the Terrain for its comfort, smooth driving experience, and easy-to-use technology, and many also like its wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The overview also points to strong winter confidence, especially with all-wheel drive, which fits buyers who want a comfortable compact crossover for everyday use.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is sluggish, the interior materials feel cheap, and value for money is weak. In practical terms, that means the Terrain makes the most sense if you prioritise comfort, convenience, and a more rugged-looking compact SUV over outright pace or premium cabin feel.

With 29.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 GMC Terrain reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with drivers highlighting comfort, smoothness, and confidence in snowy conditions. The expert evaluation also describes the Terrain as comfortable and smooth on the road, which supports the sense that it is easy to live with day to day.

The 1.5-litre turbocharged engine is the only powertrain, so long-term ownership risk is tied more to whether you can live with its modest performance than to a wide range of mechanical choices. For used buyers, that means the main reliability question is less about complexity and more about whether the Terrain’s everyday behaviour matches your expectations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 GMC Terrain?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SLE and SLT are the more affordable trims, while the AT4 adds a bolder grille, black 17-inch alloy wheels, sport-terrain tyres, and a steel front skid plate. The Denali adds a layer of luxury, but the base-level execution still reflects GMC’s entry-level positioning in the quality of materials and details.
• Powertrain: Every 2022 Terrain uses a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is available on some trims, while all-wheel drive is available or standard depending on trim.
• Safety package: Every Terrain gets GMC Pro Safety Package, which includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a following distance indicator. GMC Pro Safety Plus Package adds adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-change assist, rear parking sensors, and a Safety Alert Seat.
• Infotainment: SLE models get a 7-inch touchscreen, while SLT, AT4, and Denali use an 8-inch high-definition touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and connected navigation plus a Bose premium sound system are available with the larger screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The official Natural Resources Canada rating is 9.6 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 8.3 highway, and 9.0 combined with AWD.

Which 2022 GMC Terrain trim should I buy?

The 2022 GMC Terrain is offered in 4 trim levels: SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali.

Here's the short version:

• SLE: This is the value-focused starting point if you want the Terrain’s core comfort, standard safety package, and 7-inch touchscreen without paying for extras you may not need.
• SLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale feel and the larger 8-inch touchscreen, while still staying below the AT4 and Denali in price and complexity.
• AT4: Choose this if you want the rugged styling, standard all-wheel drive, sport-terrain tyres, and skid plate, but keep in mind that the off-road image outpaces the actual capability.
• Denali: Pick this if you want the most luxurious version of the Terrain and are willing to pay for the top trim’s added polish.

The standard GMC Pro Safety Package is included on every trim, while GMC Pro Safety Plus Package is available on SLE, SLT, and AT4, and comes standard on Denali.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 GMC Terrain?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 355 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.12% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $24,490 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 GMC Terrain's resale value?

The current average of $24,490 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,515 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Terrain has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilises. If you buy at the current average or below, you may have less downside left than a buyer who paid closer to last year’s higher level.

The Terrain’s resale outlook is helped by steady owner satisfaction and broad appeal as a comfortable, easy-to-use compact crossover. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 GMC Terrain safe?

The 2022 Terrain earns mostly “Good” crash-test scores from the IIHS, but it receives a “Marginal” rating in the new side-impact test.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2022 Terrain comes with GMC Pro Safety Package, which includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a following distance indicator. GMC Pro Safety Plus Package adds adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-change assist, rear parking sensors, and a Safety Alert Seat, and it comes standard on Denali.

The main caveat is that lane-centring is not available, and the IIHS side-impact result is weaker than the rest of the crash-test picture.

Should I buy a 2022 GMC Terrain or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.12% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds the new AT4 model, which gives the Terrain a more rugged look and standard all-wheel drive.

The bottom line: If you want the Terrain with the updated AT4 appearance and you value comfort, easy-to-use tech, and strong owner satisfaction, the 2022 is the year to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, the softened market and decent inventory make it worth shopping carefully for a well-priced example rather than stretching for a newer model.
